Rick - sounds like I need to get my husband on board. He knows about the forum, but only reads if I make him. Don't know what's wrong with him??!!!

This forum keeps me entertained each day and I so enjoyed meeting some fellow forumites while on STJ and look forward to the summer gathering here in Wisconsin.

It is such an escape to read about everyone elses trips and questions and to be able to post without concern for the replies I might get.

So, THANK YOU EVERYONE!!

To illustrate how I feel about this forum, in my internet favorites this site is called "Good Forum".

To share an experience (rather personal - watch out  ) my live in boyfriend of 5 years who was coming to STJ with me in 8 days told me last night that he is not coming on the trip and that he is moving out for a while. Obviously, tears ensued! Besides talking with him and my friends, I definitely found solace by logging on here and losing myself in the STJ vibe. So thanks everyone.

Awwwww guy's - I love you all.

I have to agree that the "style" (oops used " " ) on this family forum is just great.

I post on two other forums (as most of you probably know) and I must say I think most of the time I answer in the same way, but sometimes I know I can get testy over "there" and I think it is mainly because of the style in which the question is asked - you know the kind of visitors that you know instantly will not "get" St John - the kind that will say something like...........I need to know the best place to rent a car but I am not prepared to pay over $40.00 per day as I feel the locals are ripping me off. Where should I rent from and don't tell me they won't negotiate because that's just bu**

You all know exactly how I would answer that one

So again Luv you all

My husband and I went to New Orleans last month and in the planning phase I had been looking at the "TA" forum re: New Orleans. I saw "someone" from New Orleans on this forum and just mentioned we'd be visiting. Her suggestions were incredible! We had the best time and can't wait to get back there. I even wrote a trip report for her! That is how awesome "this" forum is---On a USVI forum, I got the best advice for a New Orleans trip---and a new friend! Thanks!

Hey Paula:

Might be a little too early for this but heck hopefully it will make you laugh....maybe we can find you a nice St. Johnian, you will fall in love, get married, live on the beach and let all us come visit for free!!

Seriously, if there is anything you need or just to chat, we're here for you baby

I'm so glad your still coming to meet up with us! See you at the Beach Bar!

One of the things that shocked me on my first visit to the VI was that no one was interested in what I did for a living. You'd go to a bar and see a guy in a suit conversing happily with a construction worker. Here in the DC area we are consumed with "what do you do, who do you know, how much money do you make etc."

When we go to STJ, none of that matters.

As KC sings, ....Hang with the locals at the Quiet Mon, Where you can be a tourist, a beach bum ... or a star, And be as you are.

Good for you, Paula. I don't think there's any better place to reflect, dream, laugh, cry and heal than STJ. Take care.

I agree with everyone else, you guys are all great!

I really think the fact that Anthony switched over to a registered user format has really improved the friendliness of the forum. It used to drive me crazy on the old version of this forum when users would log in under a different name just to make snarky comments about other posters.
