Just when I think you can not be anymore condescending, you come up with something new.

Get over it. You are not going to change anyone's mind and are just pushing the undecided voters away from your candidate and your party.

Just because I am choosing to vote for Senator Obama does not make me any less intelligent that someone voting for Senator McCain. It does not make me a person that would ever hold another human being to the title Messiah. It makes me a person that hase made an educated choice based on my beliefs. I believe that you have made an educated choice to vote for McCain based on your beliefs, is that not true? If it is, can't you just leave well enough alone and move on?

Sox,

Since I can not see into your mind and heart I will take you at your word.. but your actions here (postings) seem to contradict your words. On one hand you Post a You Tube video about Obama's ancestory, with sinister music playing in the background, including clips from people who are most obviuosly speaking from misinformation or through a sense of pride for someone who is " kenyan" the same way I'm
"Italian", while at the same time declaring that you don't beleive the charges contained in the video. Why post it at all then. This is the kind of stuff we have been seeing for two years. Its the unfortunate and negative side of the internet explosion that anyone with a computer can post anything and if enough people see it it takes on some legitimacy.
For the first time in 225 years a black man has mounted a serious run at the presidency. To say that race is not a factor, on either side, is simply naive.

One last thought. This repulic has survived since 1776, the founding fathers were somehow able to craft a system which has resilency. No matter what the outcome on Tuesday, I'm confident we will all survive. I agree with the poster who said, let's check back in a year and see how its going.

Let's see, in 2000 and 2004 the Country voted in the next Conservative great hope--how's that working out for you?

Then it's time for some serious change.

The unfounded, vicious, rumors surrounding Obama's citizenship and patriotism are just another form of "Swift Boating". It's ugly.
I live in liberal voting Montgomery, County, MD.
I gotta say, I work, and am often around a lot of farmers, their helpers, tradesmen, etc. and in my social world here and I'll tell you that this election, if nothing else, has shown me that the ignorant, racist, dumb-ass, redneck attitude is alive and thriving. The vehement hatred that I have heard with the comments, and worse, the "jokes" is numbing. And most of these guys, and women, are church going, self -professed Christians. I can't tell you that I'm shocked by them though, as I've lived here virtually all of my life. I remember "whites only" signs in restaurant doors. I also remember when "liberal" Montgomery County showed up with axe handles after the desegregation rulings in 1964 to stop the Negros from entering the Glen Echo Amusement Park at all, and especially not have "them" swim in the Crystal Pool. This park was less then 2 miles from the Washington D.C. line. All that said, to me, Pete is correct i saying that the whispering undertones by some on this board reek of racism.

Oh, I know Bayer, but it surprises many to hear and see it in a county that is pretty overwhelmingly "liberal".

bayer40601 wrote:So cypress, Palin taking money from the oil companies (some of which they obtained from the lower 48) and passing it out to people in Alaska doesn't seem like objectionable "spreading the wealth around"? If that's the case, then I assume that all of the talk about "spreading the wealth around" has been nothing but politics and not a serious discussion about questionable policies.
I wanted to do a little fact finding before I got back to you, Bayer.........

Point one, EVERY oil company, large or small, pays a lease to the US government for the right to drill on that lease area for a certain period of time.. They pay for the lease whether they decide to drill or not, whether they find oil/gas or not, so this is nothing new.

Point two, Alaska did implement in 2007, an adjustment to the tax program already in place. They raised taxes on profits from the North Slope to 24% from 22.50%, at a time when oil rose from $70 to $145 per barrell over the last 18 months and oil companies were making incredible profits. Palin and the majority said that, while oil conpanies are selling the crude abroad to hungry markets, we have a state rich in natural resources that the citizens do not receive fair value for.

She did install a sort of windfall profits tax. When oil prices increased over $50 per barrell, the state increased the tax rate by .2% for every dollar in the increase of a barrell of oil over $50. So a $30 increase in the price of oil (a 60% increase), would increase the state tax by 6%.

One VITAL NOTE is that the state of Alaska is THE LARGEST INVESTOR IN THE ALASKAN NORTH SLOPE. In fact the state paid for 50% of the money invested in the North Slope in 2007. Shouldn't they get a decent return on their investment since they are taking all the risk??? Palin's tax on oil companies goes to ALL residents of Alaska, not just the lower class that will take all the handouts and keep voting for the democrats. BO's plan takes money from oil companies even though the oil is being drilled outside the US.

This link is to a website explaining Palin's tax plan, proving what she did. It is apples and oranges different from BO's socialist tax plan that will stiffle business growth, hurt corporate America, and end up reducing job creation and causing layoffs.

This is all the time I'm going to spend defending my belief that Barack Obama is toxic to this country. I'll leave you with a simple analogy. Say you are on STJ and you go to dinner at Zozo's. You have a wonderful dinner and the service is fantastic. You pay for your dinner and tell your waiter that he did an exceptional job, but you're going to give his tip to the poor guy on the park bench because even though he (the waiter) deserves it for all his hard work, the poor guy on the street needs it more. Sound familiar!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get ready folk, this is not a joke.

here is a very intersting and thoughtful piece about the so-called 'socialist' agenda of obama (which is really just thickheaded neocon soundbiting )
interestingly , McCain advocated that wealthy persons should pay more back in 2000 and Palin herself is very into redistribution of the wealth .

Do you agree with that too, re-pete?
How rude! Now I understand where you get that "needling" crap. You practically invented it. There is no reason to be so insulting to people.
But you have no problem with re-pete calling me a racist? Two or three times?

It's all Swift Boat tactics, and it really does sadden me that people I normally consider to be intelligent have fallen for them.

Oh, and you can't use Snopes as a source to debunk their rumors anymore (they have a new site, but I can't remember the address. It's probably run by Fox News), because the latest e-mail from my friend indicates that the lady who runs Snopes.com is a liberal, and she's just trying to make B.H.O. look good...

I probably shouldn't delete her e-mails. Even though they get my blood pressure up, some of them are sure entertaining.

No problem at all. It's not just Pete, you've been rude and insulting to almost everyone on this board at one time or another.

cypress-I presented you with the following link about the redistribution of wealth by Gov. Palin in Alaska. If you choose not to believe it, that's up to you, but I did not see anything in your post which disputes or disagrees with this link:

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/l ... tax07.html

Although, I do think the link indicates the North Slope tax rate is 25% rather than 24%. Minor differences.

In any event, this action by Gov. Palin is redistribution of the wealth in its purest form.

Well that's good then...There's a strong possibility that Obama was born in Kenya.
You keep doing it...you're like my dream opposing witness in a deposition...let them talk enough, get them riled up, and they always let something slip out.

First you call him "boy" and then you go with the Kenya comment. I know, I know...not a racist bone in your body. But, what about your heart?

Keep talking...the hole you're digging is getting deeper. What a hoot.
I doubt that your opinions would sway a jury in your favor but your tactics have convinced me that attacks and name calling are your best offense.

I find it this sort of campaign particularly devisive. If you ask questions of candidate X you are probably racist. Not that I am calling you racist if you vote for candidate Y but........

No, it's just been soxfan. Everyone else here has been hitting above the belt, right?
