One of my favorite things I did there on a gal pal weekend was to rent bikes and bike across the bridge and up to Sausalito and then Tiburon. Love those areas! Then we drank too many margaritas in Tiburon (or was it back in Sausalito?) and took the ferry back to the city. We were there in October and had gorgeous weather; November will hopefully be great too.
I also loved hiking in Muir Woods, but if you don't have a car you probably won't get there.
San Francisco is a great city for walking. Take a walk up Knob Hill and have a drink at the Fairmont; walk up or down Lombard Street between Hyde and Leavenworth; walk through the Presidio or Golden Gate Park or ogle the homes in Pacific Heights. Love that city!

I think I get it now, I'll be doing a lot of layering for this trip!
Carolyn, I know, I know, we might be making a huge mistake as Michael Mina's is supposed to be one of the finest restaurants around but, we're trying to do things that are truly unique to SF. (Plus it's really $$ and, it sounds like a lot of food and we don't eat all that much in one sitting.)
