Painkiller

Post by barnbob »

Ruth - after we moved from our villa to the Westin, I seem to have lost the nutmeg from my painkiller kit I bought from Spice a few days ago... THE HORROR!

Ruth: Thankks for the great photos. Everyone who is on the island take care of yourselves. CNN just said it could cross the VIs as a category 2 hurricane. See you next month!

Thanks for the pre-Omar pictures Ruth! What's up with those potted palms on the ferry dock? I hope they're glued down!

I had the exact same thought, those puppies are going to be flying missiles when the winds come.

This graphic was put together by a BVI villa owner using latest data giving a best guess on how close Omar will come and what kind of sustained winds likely to hit. Latest projection takes it dead center over Virgin Gorda and the potential wind swath has broadened from just a few hours ago.

Yikes.

jmw, is that Magnum's map? The other sources I'm looking at have a 35% of winds over 75 knots.

Cheers, RickG

Yup Rick that is Walkers map. He seems to be updating it every few hours. I figure he must know what he is doing more than most, what with his navigation charting experience and all. Hopefully its more of worst case thing, plus its still 12- 18 hrs away and can jog more east hopefully.
Even though his villa and the beach bar next door at Cow Wreck are on the north side of Anegada, that island is so damn flat that you have to worry about the wind damage, while Neptunes and the others on the south side are also gonna have the water pushed up into them. I suppose those famous Anegada reefs offer some wave protection, no?

Here are a few more pictures. One is High Tide tearing down, then the Beach Bar, and finally Centerline.

Stjohnjulie, thanks for the photos. The Beach Bar looks like just another day. Will they also take down their canopy like High Tide did?

I hope your home safe and sound and stay that way. I'm thinking of all of you!
