Marcia - Next time your on STJ, find one of these "birdcherry" trees and break off a couple of leaves and put them in a ziplock baggie. Then keep it in your desk drawer and you can smell it anytime you want

that smell is most likely the mongoose .it is related to the weasel,ferret, etc .all have scent sacs and mark their territory .we smell that same smell on the way to the beaches down 20 .also...a friend of mine owned ferrets...even though the scent sacs were removed & they were litter box trained,you could still smell the skunk-like musk odor from outside of his house.

I know we have the "offical" reason for the smell, but I ran into a girl I went to school with who lives on STJ and her boyfriend said that smell is a plant...the kinda plant you smoke.
