Coden, maybe I'm doing something wrong with my Kindle, but I have a few complaints about access to the internet.

When I first log on, the print is sooooo tiny. I know how to change that, but then just trying to navigate around a page is such a pain in the butt.

Also, everytime I go to a new page, when I'm searching for something, I have to change the print size again.

Any suggestions?

Connie - I haven't figured that part out just yet. Like I said, it is labor intensive. :D

I'm trying to teach myself to use it in the Landscape position. And, I haven't worked out the Aa issue yet. It is a pain to have to continually change it to a larger font. I'll have to study up on it, and if I find the solution, I'll post it. I may even have to call Tech Service someday when I get a chance.

I do have the info. to get free books...after going into the Kindle Store...go down to the bottom search box and type in: Public Domain Books it shows there are over 15,000 free books. :D

Use can also sign up for Pixel of ink on Facebook for free books. Loving the Kindle although I just got the simple one and not the 3G. Nice to "hear" for you , Coden.

Thank you, I am trying to resurface. My DH is doing better and our lives are getting back into a normal rhythm. Which gives me more free time. :D

I've been off the forum for a really long time, and just recently lurking...When I decided I needed some advice on electronic gadgets, I knew there would already be a discussion going on here!

I am trying to decide between getting an Ipad2, Nook Color, or the Nook WiFi+3g. I barely know enough about any of them to even ask a question that makes sense!

If I got the Ipad2, it would have to be the 16GB Ipad with WiFi - that one would be the most I could spend.

I would mostly be interested in of course the book reading features, and checking in on a few forums - twitter- facebook - blogs etc., The audio capabilities are not that important to me as my IPOD will have to be pried from my cold dead hands someday, but I would want some music on whatever I get.

I would not be someone to take any of them to the beach or out on the boat or anything like that.

I know most of you probably have one device or another rather than all of them, but would still like to hear anymore feedback you may have! Basically just trying to figure out which one would be best suited for me, without spending money on features I may not even use!

Thanks!

Love my Nook, didn't need 3G, wifi is fine, didn't want color, e-ink is easier on the eyes. And of course the price $149 was just right!!Had it since August & have 100 books on it so far. Only have read 35 so far..it is addictive, both downloading books (way too easy) and have all tose books to choose from wherever I go. LOVE IT!

Do you use the internet feature for anything else other than downloading the books? If so, is it enough for just really light web surfing - reading blogs, forums, twitter etc...?

I'm finally at the Nook vs. Kindle stage. I have been reading on my iPad and really like it, but like others, want something smaller and can be read outdoors (and less $$ than the iPad).

Most reviews are split down the middle.

I'm leaning toward the Nook Touch as I get the B&N membership discount and it will be less expensive than the comparable Kindle, but with ads.

Does anyone have a Kindle with ads/offers? have you been offered anything worthwhile and do they really not interfere with your reading?

Does anyone know if there is an B&N discount on Nook books?

thanks.

I started with the original nook, love it for reading books but not worth trying to read any websites. I got a waterproof bag for it, that I love for the beach, pool and bath. Since getting my iPad, I only use the nook when near water. I have seen the smallest kindle and it looks smaller than a little paperback..i didn't like it. I do like the Free Friday Nook book offers ( their choice, not yours) each week! Not sure if Kindle does this. Nook also has many books you can share with other Nook owners. (one time)

I have the 1st generation nook color. LOVE LOVE LOVE it! My 14 year old has the Kindle Fire. He was against it at first saying "I read REAL books!" He's a convert! Takes it to bed every night and is now asking for new ebooks to read. I love them both!

This is not true. See:

I love, love, love my Kindle!

I cannot imagine my life without it. I read about 3 books a week, all free, on my Kindle. I have never paid for a Kindle book.

I check this link a couple times a week and download a few free books at a time, whatever looks interesting (the free books are on the right):
http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Kind ... gital-text

I currently have over 600 free books sitting on my Kindle waiting to be read.

What I like about my cheapy version of the Kindle is that it is not back-lit. Anything that is back-lit, like a computer screen, fatigues your eyes and is not good for reading.

I may eventually have some kind of tablet computer but I would not use it to read. I may even get a Kindle Fire to use for things other than reading.

It seems everyone love, love, loves their Kindle or Nook.

I ended up with the Simple Touch Nook; saved a few $$ with B&N membership.
