No matter where I travel, I always find myself asking "Why in the heck do I live in Minnesota?"

It always comes back to family, like most of you have mentioned. Plus, the novelty of any new town would eventually fade.

But that still doesn't stop me from day dreaming...

Reminds me of the story of the guy who won the lotto - HUGE lotto - and he ended up divorced, kids ended up in jail, finally in the end he was bankrupt. I think he's dead now.

I always think wouldn't it be nice to win that powerball (would have to play first) but then I think no...I pretty much like life as it is.

Don't get me wrong, I'll take the $350 million if it comes knockin. I just will try to remember who I was before and TRY to keep some sense! I would invite you all to my new villa on island.

1. Husbands 150 year old family business would have to shut down...right now he works seven days a week to keep it going...no chance of selling, not a soul around that wants to work that hard for a week to week type of existence and there is practically no profit margin...LOL, good week is when they open the doors Monday Morning...Great meats BTW!

2. $$$$

3. 10 year old daughter...would miss her family and friends...

4. Where would we vacation????LOL!!!

5. I could work practically anywhere...Travel sales and real estate...
Hoping for a USVI ticker in 2013!

We're not RICH! To live in St.John the way we are accustom to vacationing would cost a fortune. It wouldn't be as much fun to work there as compared to lounging on the beautiful beaches and relaxing at the villa (you know how much a villa cost?)and dining and drinking every night. But I can always dream about it happening! Scott

So why don't we live here?

Because I HAVE to live here.

We BOTH have aging parents that need our attention for a few years. Hubby turned down a great job offer on STJ 2 years ago. I'm very happy living here in Virginia, but I may have to give in to my husband some day.............he'd be gone in a flash!

Ask me again in 10 years..............

Good topic.

ScottB - I can tell you that you made the right decsion about the fishing guide thing. My older brother was a fishing guide for a while, and slowly but surely, he got tired of doing what he loved because it was a job instead of something he loved to do to get away.

He has since quit that and is in an office job. I think he misses it in a way, but now he is back to enjoying it when he goes.

As for me living on STJ...three things: family, can't see much demand for a dog trainer, and most of all, I love New Orleans!
