#2 is chiillaxing and asked me to fill in some blanks. Apparently we drove away from the Gibney gate without a bag. I know. Nearly impossible to conceive. It's not even funny anymore. I've got to step up and take the blame for this one because I carried that bag up the path and put it on the ground next to, I thought, the cooler and other bag with towels. In reality, I was so anxious about checking my messages at work that the bag slipped from my mind. Not good.

Further, we never, ever have two, let alone one wallet with us at the beach. Ever. We know better. But, the weather was spotty so we figured we'd go to Mongoose if it rained. We gave the beach a shot and should have locked the wallets in glove box. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I own it.

Anyway, it was gone and the guys working on the road right there said they were on lunch break and didn't see anything. We stopped at the police station to report it then went back to Gallows and began calling to cancel the credit cards. At this point I'm guessing that good St. Anthony has put us on the "do not call" list but it's worth a try. My cell rang and it was the Red Hook ferry security guard. Someone turned in the bag with the wallets in tact except for the cash. There wasn't much cash. The Sony Handicam and #2's iphone and #1 's I pod were gone.

Last Spring in New England was particularly rainy and the weeds were out of hand. Enterprising guy that he is #2 opened a weed pulling business. He put flyers out all over our neighborhood and had lots of requests for work. He followed up and showed up on time and earned the money to buy and maintain his Iphone.

We are insured for our personal belongings but we haven't quite given up hope that the other stuff will turn up. Stranger things have happened. We are very lucky to have gotten the wallets back.

The weather. The up side is that cisterns are full to brimming I'm guessing. This morning is looking hopeful. We thought we'd rent a dingy this year but it's a little windy for that. We don't need to be calling for a coast guard rescue to spice things up thank you very much.

We walked to the new Mexican place, Cactus, where Stone Terrace used to be for dinner last night. We sat inside because there was a hurricane outside and we totally forgot that it was Sunday and the Beach Bar gathering was supposed to be happening. I'm so sorry to have missed the brave souls who ventured out in the storm.

So that brings us up to date. #2 will jump in and out as the mood strikes. Do a little sun dance for us if you will.

Glad you got the wallets back. Sorry for the boys' stuff to be missing though.

Praying now and doing the Sun Dance like crazy. We'll be landing tomorrow afternoon. Gotta get up at O-dark-hundred tomorrow morning for a 6:00am flight. That's OK...I'm too excited to sleep! :D

Thanks Mary Beth. He's got a great attitude about it and we will replace it if it doesn't turn up.

#2, thanks for taking the time to share your adventures with us. I am sorry about your iphone though, that stinks. I hope the rest of your trip is great!

Deuce, Agent 99 and family,
We'll be staying on STT but going to STJ twice. One day for beaches and on Saturday for the St. Patty's activities in Cruz Bay.

Doing a day trip to the BVI's (Baths and Jost) on Pirates Penny/Stormey Petrel on the 12th.

I'm thinking that if we see a family clutching their bags and checking to be sure they've got their belongings every few minutes it will be you 8) Enjoy!

Sun be Shinin' and every little ting gonna be alright.

Seagrape and I braved the storm and hit the BB on Sunday.

Today was a big improvement weatherwise. A ittle blue sky out there now.

The sun is shining and the sky is blue. We are hoping to go to Hawksnest today. My mom put up a flyer for the missing video camera and the Iphone. We're not going to let it ruin our vacation. Here are some pics. of yesterday.

#2, I hope that your belongings are recovered but, good attitude that you won't let their loss ruin your vacation.

The weather forecast looks very positive now. That system has finally broken up and is moving on...

Enjoy the sunshine and beach!

The rest of your vac.has to be really great, how can it not, you got all the "bad" things out of the way now.

You all have a good attitude and pray that cause of it, you will see your stuff back.

Just got back from a week on island and was excited to finish reading the trip report from Deuce. I see he hasn't posted anymore yet. Anyone know of their whereabouts? I thought I saw a family on STJ that looked like them and I even approached the Dad and asked if he was part of Agent 99's family. He gave me a really strange look and said "Who?" I said, "Oops, never mind, I thought you were someone else." He just smiled and said it sounded quite interesting anyway....

Hopefully Deuce and family finished out the vacation enjoying all the wonderful weather that finally settled in on the 10th!

Hey there michigancouple! Deuce ran out of steam as far as the trip report goes and I didn't want him to stress about it. The rest of the trip was great. The weather improved and we didn't lose anything else. The best part was having to stay an extra day because our flight was delayed due to the east coast weather and there was no way to get to Boston. So we had a choice.....spend the night in Newark or St. Thomas. Now, gee let me think!

I'll finish up the report and add some of our photos. We had some exciting snorkeling .....finally found an octopus! Saw 4 very large (4-5 feet) black tip reef sharks right off Sugar Bay where we stayed the last night. I thought they were loners. Who knew they traveled in packs? They were about 15 feet away from us and swimming in the other direction but intimidating none the less. I'm thinking Sugar Bay is struggling a bit but the pool was fun and we were grateful for the extra day since we lost the first 4 to wet weather.

Glad to hear you made it back safe and sound. I was hoping that you hadn't lost your laptop or anything and didn't have to ability to post your report.

An extra day in the islands would be ok with me too. It was awesome weather. I'll be posting a trip report soon. Never did one before, but I did take some notes this time.
