Ladies and Men's hockey.

This City is nuts right now. In my 20+ years of living here I have never seen anything remotely close to the buzz that's out on the streets the past week. It's a big party, everyone is having a blast and generally everyone is in such a great mood. The sunshine isn't hurting us at all either.

It's a couple days of "Olympic fever" in Vancouver. Picts taken Feb. 17-18

TEAM CANADA all the way!

I am in awe of Shawn White. Not only did he find his God given talent but he uses it AND uses it with such a joy in his heart. He is always smiling and having fun. He makes me happy to just watch him!

XOXO

I know nothing about snowboarding...it's one of those things where, to the untrained eye, it looks like kids in baggy pants flying all around. I wondered the other night if he was really the best or if the machine had decided he was best and as long as he didn't fall, the gold was his.

Then he took the first run.

"OK then...he's like a lot better than the rest of them. I don't know what I'm watching, but I know that what I just saw was amazing"

Brenda – have you exhaled yet from the OT shootout with the Swiss? Yikes – bet the whole country was having flashbacks to the Swiss upsetting Canada in ’06.

Nice photos - are you supposed to have daffodils and cherry blossums in Feb.?

The weather might not be the best for a winter olympics, but it sure makes Vancouver look wonderful! Bet your tourism is going to skyrocket after this :)

Curling. Watching as we speak and learned that one male member of the US team just started the sport in November! Now this is a sport which gives us all the chance to be olympians. :-) Where do I sign up!!!

Please, not Whistler! People, stay in Vancouver! Whistler sucks!

Otherwise I'll start posting threads about how nice Whistler used to be!

Yes, we were on baited breath last night that's for sure but our Team pulled through.

My co-worker has pics of Shawn White picking up his medal last night. She was at the medals ceremony. A few of my co-workers were at the hockey game last night, and others were at the half-pipe snowboard competition yesterday. Me: I work full-time and go to school full-time so the bit of festivity I can catch on my lunch hour (I work downtown where all the mayhem is) is all the Olympics I can catch.

No, we're not supposed to have daffodils and cherry blossoms in February (typically early-April). We're experiencing the warmest January/February in 114 years and last year was the snowiest winter in Vancouver history.

Vancouver is a very beautiful, pleasant city and B.C. is absolutely gorgeous. Canadians are good folks. I take it as a compliment if I'm mistaken for a Canadian. We've been to BC twice, and have been able to travel a good bit throughout the province. It's one of those places that I'd love to go back to.

We were pulling for Hannah Teter. She's a classic Vermont snowboarder kid who's established a charity to assist a village in Africa:

http://www.hannahsgold.com/

and has been donating recent winnings to Haitian relief.

As for scary events, I think the skeleton tops them all.

Tonight I am interested in the pairs ice dancing: Meryl Davis and Charlie White. Both students at U-Mich (where my daughter goes).
