Bonanza! Yes! I got the reference wrong. The name of their ranch was "The Ponderosa", right?

First of all, I am going to back to my original statement on this issue:

Maggy politely asked everyone not to make it political. It was her thread.

Anyone who disrespected that was being a jerk, on either side. (It's been a while so I'm not sure whom I am insulting. I don't care. She wasn't trying to instigate a political discussion. She asked politely. She's from a foreign country and had NO idea.)

To put it in perspective, I could be sitting here at work and the Queen of England could walk in here right now. That would be exciting to me, and I might tell y'all about it. I don't know much about English politics and frankly as an Irish American, my family hasn't had much nice to say about the English monarchy, but if y'all got into a political discussion in my thread about imperialism and Tony Blair and whatever else, I'd be upset.

I think talking about what you want is fine. If I want to read it, I will. If I don't, I won't. I like to talk about politics, although I don't do it here anymore because it got too dirty. I don't really need to be insulted these days with everything going on in my life right now. I have better things to do than argue with strangers on the Internet. If I want to talk politics, I'll head over to my Catholic Democrats board and fight with the people who log on there just to call me a lesbian and a baby killer. (Oh dear, I just talked about politics AND religion.)

Just be nice. If you are going to say something here think long and hard about how you would feel if someone said the same thing to you. (Or better yet, to your mama, your spouse or your child.) If you wouldn't feel warm and fuzzy, then STFU. No one comes here to be insulted. It's a vacation Web site. For many people, it is their happy place.

I always advocate the following rule: If you're not sure if you should post something, you probably shouldn't. If you still want to, go do something else for a while and come back to it and see if you feel the same way after you've cooled down.

But why get worked up anyway? Nothing to be worked up about here.

Maho vs. Cinnamon? They're both great!
The Beach Bar vs. Woody's? You're still drunk!
Coral Bay vs. Cruz Bay? Keeps one place from being too crowded.
Cooler vs. Starfish Market? You still ate a meal on your deck in paradise.

There should be nothing on a forum about the Virgin Islands that gets anyone's panties in a wad (Well, except this downtown ferry situation! I don't dig that. I hate Red Hook!). So if you get pissed off and want to call someone a bad name, go read a trip report and look at the pretty pictures. Grab a painkiller and move on to the next topic.

"STFU" does not make me feel "warm and fuzzy".

I don't know what STFU means. Maybe that's a good thing.

I use to think that this was a friendly board, but now I'm starting to think that things are really going downhill.

Lost of preachers out there...too bad.

Just be nice.

Shut The F Up

Not very nice. But the rest of the post had some valid points.

Perhaps I could have used a better word choice, but frankly, personal attacks really upset me. And I wasn't directing at anyone. There are plenty of times I read things here and I say that to myself. I have a sailor's mouth. I'm working on it.

So, I read your comments, and I started to feel bad that I used that phrase. Maybe it was harsh.

And then one of you called me fat.

Class, such class. You're right this place is a mess.

What?!?!?

Nobody here said any such thing, Lulu. If you are referring to SJ's remark about "The fluffies taking over"...That is a reference towards people who only wish to discuss the "fluff" subjects...Food, wine, knitting, kitties, dogs, etc...The non-controversial stuff.

Nice try, but I have a very good memory. Don't try to make me feel stupid. It doesn't work with your propaganda and it won't work here.

What he said was "Jorge is right. The fluffies are taking over here."

And when Jorge said "fluffy," he meant fat.

And y'all wonder why I said some people need to STFU.

But don't worry. I'm the one who's closing her trap, which is what you all want. I know how to rent a car and a villa, and I'm out, at least until people grow up.

Yet, it's the big, mean liberals who are the playground bullies.

LuLu: that is so sad that you thought that is what was meant by "fluffies".

Do a google search for "liberal fluffies".

I don't care what it says on Google about "liberal fluffies."

Do a search ON THIS FORUM on the word "fluffy."

You can't see all of Jorge's posts because they all got deleted (how convenient for y'all), but you will find the context of that word as it has been used on this forum in the past, especially by Jorge.

It's bad enough that one of you had the balls to be such a jerk, but the fact that everyone is defending him and trying to make ME think I'm dumb and silly, is beyond pathetic.

I can't even enjoy a damn vacation forum without people being assholes. What is this 7th grade?

Now I'm saying STFU for real. You guys are low and you need to get over yourselves.

I really am done now. You people suck.

Yeah, I know which women Jorge used it in reference to. (No offense to any of my VIOL forum sisters here). There's a reason all Jorge's posts are deleted. I don't think I'd make him my forum role model.

My pictures are on here. They are in my trip reports. Hell, there is one on every post that is my avatar. I'm pretty sure everyone here has figured out that I am not a supermodel.

And I'm OK with that. I just don't need people to put it in argument to make a point. It doesn't make a point, it makes you look like a 6th grader.

You're right. You don't know me. You don't know anything about me. So you have no right to be mean to me, whether it was intentional or not.

I'm not arguing about it. I came here because St. John is my happy face and now I'm crying.

I think I'm less upset that I was called fat, and more upset that y'all are trying to gaslight me.

I guess this is what I get for asking people to play nice and not hurt others' feelings. I'm just way past my limit on assholes this week.

"Propaganda"? That is insulting. I will take that comment as though you are comparing me to Joseph Goebbels, the infamous Nazi propagandist.

So now I am a Nazi. This is crazy. I'm outta here.
