Despite initial thoughts of saying nothing here...

Much could be said - multi talents so well expressed - thanks for the good times, Joshie.

As this final "Where's Joshie?" slides out of archives now and then, future readers, current readers too, should know:

that in reality no harmful or criminal acts were carried out related to slipping items into drinks
that Joshie was not Jorge
that Joshie is not hugo, as some have thought, stemming from one of Joshie's moments of mischief

A couple of months ago, Joshie packed up, cleaned out, dismantled his Woody's Easter Cat and waited for his departure opportunity. Today Joshie has indeed left the building (to quote VickiH) and is seeking the Peace he often offered in his posts, off island, off the rock, beyond the Virgins.

Joshie, thanks for sharing your time and talents here. Good luck with your future plans. It was FUN!
I won't forget.

Good to be reminded that this is a public forum and some of us are more comfortable sharing details of our lives while others of us are more comfortable keeping private. We should respect one another's individual differences and preferences.

Joshie has left the building.

But I'd keep an eye on your drinks....he's still out there you know.
Are you Joshie? I KNEW IT! ;-)

OKay... would someone please explain how the %*&%# anyone ever thought I was Joshie? It was apparently something he said, but I never saw it....he told me in a PM that a lot of people thought this-- and it struck me as so weird, I stopped participating much myself.

I miss Joshie too and wish him well wherever life takes him. If he's "done" with this forum, I can respect his decision, but for the record would love to hear from him again from time to time.

It is mostly my fault that you don't see Joshie here any more. After a loooonnngg line of off-board conversations, I made a joke that he didn't care for and, I believe, it was final straw in coming too close to breaking into the anonymity that Joshie had carefully constructed.

It's too bad, because I (and my office) miss seeing his photos every week or so. But if you're looking for someone to blame, blame me.

I miss Joshie's posts mainly because of his extraordinary photos and his sense of humor. Hope he isn't gone for good.

Hugo, your presence is much appreciated also and your reduced participation has been noted at least on my part. I enjoy your knowledge of the island both physical, social and historical. Hope you are here to stay. As far as how someone thought that you and Joshie were one and the same, hmmmm...except that you are both on island (my assumption) I would say that your online personas are worlds apart.

I probably tell much more than I should on the Internet. In the past (mostly elsewhere) it has burned me in the ass, but really I don't have the energy to create an alter ego for myself and I like the online camraderie here.

But I understand why people do it. And that's their deal. I cannot imagine trying to seek someone out to find out their real life identity. Then again, it's probably mostly because I don't have the energy to do it.

So, I am who I am. You be whoever you want to be. It's all good. And if it's not all good, then reach for your nearest bottle of rum.

That being said, I absolutely detest people who create alter egos on a forum to wreak havoc on the folks who post there. Especially those who have been banned for whatever reason and create a new ego to get past that and do their old thing.

Mostly, I just think people should play nice and remember why we're here.

OK, my soapbox is being put away now. I still miss Joshie, Hugo and all the others who were nice and posted and now feel like they can't do that anymore. It's our loss, really.

The curiosity about Joshie's identity was, in large part, his own doing. Recall that when he first started posting he teased us with the prospect that he actually was Jorge. That got some people going on the notion that Joshie was a forum member who was adopting an alter ego. From what I am reading on this thread, it sounds like it may have spiraled out of control.

I snorted when I read that! Maybe left brain and right brain... separated.

I tend to skim the posts, but I always read Hugo's and love that they have real content and facts that were new to me. Definitely left brain type stuff.

I've enjoyed all of Joshie's posts, the teasing was amusing, but it was real artistry that stuck. Right brain!

I understand not being cool with flamers who are banned for being a-holes then come back under another name so they can continue to be a-holes. These people have issues and they waste a lot of our time.

But, Joshie didn't do that. He played a fun game with us THAT WE STARTED. It was us who kept asking who he was, who kept speculating about which forum member he might be, who kept the game going. He just played along.

Joshie had the right to be or not to be whoever he wanted . We as a forum have the right to read or not to read certain posts and threads. It's all free will. It's the anonymous internet- not a courtroom.

the issue only got out of hand with a very small population of members NEEDED to KNOW NOW who Joshie was and felt like Joshie was obligated to tell them. I assume these same people read the last chapter first.

Everyone has their role and Joshie was Joshie. He/she fed the curiousity and we ate it and it was fun while it lasted. Great pictures and the pay it forward at Soggy Dollar tops them all.

He/she is gone, so be it.

Thank you for the "forum" memories Joshie.
