It helped in the depth of our sorrow, when we came across so many "so what" reactions out in the world, to remember how sad it was that those people never knew the depth and length of a pet's love.
Those that know, know. Those that don't, miss out.
Tee, isn't that the truth. I think that's the best thing I heard today.
Thank you

Gromit - I am so sorry for your loss. I had to let my dog George go last December and it was so hard - although I have two real people children, George was my baby too.
Everyone on this forum provided me with so much comfort and so many kind words - I know the same will come true for you. It will take some time, but I am certain you did the right thing and also certain that Duffy and your Dad are taking that walk right now.

Oh Gromit, I suspected as much when I saw your post on the other board. I'm very sorry. I hope it brings you a little comfort to know that you did the absolute best thing for him.
We've been there and one thing has helped us over the worst of the grief. If you can, and if you feel ready don't wait too, too long to bring a new little life into your home. Anything that brings joy into your home is a good thing and honors the memory of the one that you miss. Hugs to you.

I am so sorry Gromit. My heart goes out to you.
I heard someone said once that dogs are just people in furry suits.
That is what I think and I bet your dad and Duffy are watching over you all while you grieve
Peace

So very sorry for you and your family-as much joy as Duffy brought you, you in turn brought to Duffy over the years. May your memories of Duffy help you during this time.

Oh, Gromit, words cannot express how sorry I am for you and your husband.
I can only hope that when the time comes for my little love, that I will be as brave as you were.
I absolutely believe that your little guy is in heaven. How could it be heaven without them?
Peace.
Meg

I am sorry for the loss of your wonderful pet...the hard decisions were right for Duffy each time, and though your heart is broken now, knowing that you always gave him the very best will help you to heal. Thinking of you and your husband...

You guys are the best! Thanks so much for all the warm words!
Just one little story about how Duffy got his name...
Duffy was named after Duffy's Love Shack on STT.
When I met my husband (playing paintball of all things) I was wearing camo pants, jungle boots and my Duffy's Love Shack t-shirt.
The idea of jungle boots on a girl didn't even phase him and he only asked me about the t-shirt. I told him all about this great bar on STT. Anyway we went out on our first official date after that and about 18 months later we were married and honeymooned on STJ (where else?)
Anyway, after our first year of marriage and after we had bought our house we decided to get a dog. We were laying in bed one night thinking of great dog names but we both immediately knew what we would name him, we just had to find the right pup to fit the name and we did!
Anyway, that's how Duffy got his name.
Again, thank you guys for the support. It means more to me than you will ever know!
((HUGS))
