I get excited when it's decided that we ARE gonna make another trip, more excited when we book our plane tickets and villa (usually WAY in advance) then simmer down till about two months out when all the sudden I have to listen to only island themed music and read island themed books
That exitement tends to last till a few days before the trip when I tend to get stressed out about leaving my pets and making sure I get everything packed. The last trip I booked a massage the day before I left and it was the BEST thing I have ever done cuz it got rid of all of that stress. In the future, I will do that the day before EVERY big trip no matter where I go.

I get really excited when I first book our tix. I try to use miles for all 4 of us, so I book the day flights open up. That means a looong wait.
After I book the tix there's a mini flurry of activity -- picking out a villa, booking the villa and car -- then things settle down for the long wait. I start getting excited again immediately before the trip -- especially the night before, when we pack. Then of course, the best feeling is on the ferry, with the island breeze in my hair. ahhhh

Couldn't have said it better myself!LMG wrote:Yesterday, last week, today. Pretty much all the time. For things that are planned, for things that aren't even paid for, for scenarios I've only created in my mind. Pretty much any time I think about even the faintest possibility. I have two sets of friends leaving within the month for their first STJ trip just due to my recommendations (and constant prodding). That's pretty exciting, too... vicarious as it may be.
Stepping off the plane works, too.
And then when I arrive, I'm the Cypressgirl scenario...out, about, busy, EXCITED - the entire time.....

It has come in waves...Sometimes I will be sitting here just reading post and start thinking about our dates and I am there....Sometimes I don't have it on my mind for days...This has been the case for a year now. Pretty much as soon as we made up our mind to go. Now that I am within a month (24 days) It is more the anxiety of getting all my work stuff done, but I am still excited about leaving. The day we leave I will be like a kid....
I usually start getting excited at around the two month mark or when you guys with similar dates start buzzing about your trips and then when I'm at the store and find STJ stuff that's a good moment and a great moment is finding a cute new bikini or sundress especially for the trip. That always pumps me up real good.
Seeing my ticker go below two months had me pretty stoked. The excitement usuall kicks me into wanting to get into decent shape as well. Since it's getting so close now, I've been trying to work my 40 yr old a$$ into the optical illusion of a twenty somethings but alas, it still looks 40. WTF-over? Sucks to be me until I get to STJ, then all is right in my world!
