JMG...i'm a HUGE fan of Jeff Bridges too.

Fearless is an amazing movie, really keeps your attention, and Starman...wow...loved it.

Pia..I can't stand the scarey movies either. Give me a comedy anyday.

Love the "Vacation" movies, especially Christmas
Vacation.

Realy check out Fearless!!

jmq,
I love Fearless too. That movie is incredible. Pia, put it on your list!

Some others:

The Age of Innocence
The Piano
Sense and Sensibility (even John cried at the end. Don't tell him I told you  )
Lawrence of Arabia
Wall*E
I LOVED Ironman, and usually I am not into action films. I AM into Robert Downey, Jr. so that might explain things.
Heathers. Have the pate!
Office Space is THE BEST. It slays me every time I watch it. Ummmm.....yeah.
Swingers. Vegas, Baby, Vegas!
Whale Rider
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
21 (filmed in my office and stars Kevin Spacey! You can't go wrong!)
Sideways (if you like wine)
Elizabeth
ET (just watched this again last week and LOVED it still)
Crash
Dirty Dancing--it's the 20th anniversary! And still nobody puts Baby in the corner. :)
Moulin Rouge

Here are two AWFUL movies I love: The Phantom of the Opera. It is so incredibly bad, and I love it! John and I watch it all the time. Also, Blades of Glory. Really, really terrible. But oh so horribly funny.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Castaway - Tom Hanks
Some other great Tom Hanks movies: "The Green Mile" and "Big", not to mention "Forrest Gump" (sorry if any already mentioned)

Anybody mention "Rainman" yet? Hoffman and Cruise were great in that.

And how about two all time comedies: "This is Spinal Tap" and "Animal House".
Never forget seeing Animal House while in college. Went to a packed show on opening weekend. What a howling, raucous crowd - everyone was busting a gut, making you laugh even more. I think there are some here who sometimes deserve double secret probation.

yes, yes yes, I second Blades of Glory...another wonderful one to add to the hilariously stupid list.

Also I thought Tropic Thunder was worth renting. Danny Mc Bride is funny as hell-

He is going to be really big...from Concord NC, discovered by Will Farrell...really really funny guy.

Juno is one of the best movies I've seen in a very long time. Great dialogue. Also, the new Bond's with Daniel Craig (I think only the first is out on DVD) are funnnnn!
