Heh heh...the sad thing is I would pay my own way and still cook for everyone. I can't help myself, I have to be in the kitchen! John took video of the houses we stayed in last trip and in both I'm in the kitchen, chopping away.

Was having a chat the other day with Liamsaunt about Farmers Markets and the lack there of in my area. Low and behold this past Tuesday there was one right down town so I took a stroll. Just enjoyed the BEST tomato I have had in a while, sliced with a little sea salt and cracked garlic pepper from Ruth's place. Thanks to Waterguy Tom for suggesting that item, love it! Here's my bounty from the other day.

Beautiful, Mary Beth! What are you going to do with all those jalepenos?

I'm trying a new crab cake recipe tonight as consolation for sitting through a VERY disappointing Red Sox game today. Not only did they lose, but my niece and nephew were behaving rather Dudley Dursley-like. I suppose it was better than an afternoon in the office, but still...

Here's one of my recent farmer's market photos. I go every Friday. There's a market on Tuesday also, but I usually don't get out of the office early enough to get much good stuff.

So I suppose I should not tell you that the wash was the only thing that kept my mood elevated? We have an old hand operated board at Fenway that tracks all the other games. We thought your game was over in the ninth, since the score did not change for so long! It went from 0-3 to 3-3--I thought maybe the scorekeepers were playing a trick to try and rally our guys. We'll have to agree to disagree on baseball, I think. :D

Marybeth - You must have been to Delicious Orchards - in Colts Neck - no? Much of it is locally grown, some organic but all of it extremely fresh! The selection is unbelievable - with things as rare as Black Kale. The varieties of tomatoes will make your head spin!

We've been buying all of our produce from there weekly for over 20 years now and it is amazing how much longer the produce will keep in comparison to items purchased at grocery store chains!
Peace,

Lisa

I've been to your park. And I'm ok with disagreeing, it's all in the spirit of the game.
Funny story, I was in Maine this summer and we were at a place called Beach Fire and the big attraction is this fire pit where people sit around and chat and drink. It's fun if you feel like socializing! So we are sitting there and all of a sudden this woman (who had had a few) says "I suppose we are all Sox fans here". So Charlie and I just laughed and said no. She asked where we were from and when we said Jersey she just groaned! LOL And another guy who was sitting next to me got pretty close to me and says "you're never gonna catch us. NEVER." Not saying we are or aren't but it just all struck me very funny.

We'll both be watching the scoreboard from here on out!

Hey Mary Beth!
I know what you can do with at least one Jalapeno!

Throw it in a food processor, seeds and all with 3 or 4 cloves of garlic, one 28 oz. can of whole peeled tomatoes, big pinch of salt and zip, zip, zip!

Bam! Instant salsa! No more store bought salsa for us! :P
I've got 2 tickets to paradise~Pack your bags we'll leave tonight!

Octopus Salad

Post by Anthony »

Here is something different for you guys:

<img src="/images/octopus-salad.jpg">

Made this the other day for lunch - very simple: boiled octopus, boiled potatoes, sliced celery, olive oil, red pepper flakes, tiny bit of minced onion, salt, and pepper.
