Probably because I am just a sheep, but I liked what President O had to say about his executive order related to abortion....he sounds just like me.

"For too long, international family planning assistance has been used as a political wedge issue, the subject of a back and forth debate that has served only to divide us," Obama said in a statement issued along with the memorandum he signed. "I have no desire to continue this stale and fruitless debate."

He said he would ask his administration to initiate a "fresh conversation" on family planning and to seek common ground with abortion opponents.

"I have directed my staff to reach out to those on all sides of this issue to achieve the goal of reducing unintended pregnancies," Obama said.

I think I'll follow his lead and end my contributions to the state and fruitless debate.

if you can find me someone who actually relies on abortion as a method of birth control i will eat my keyboard.
Loria, I know people like this. Edited: believe me . . . I know more than one person who, I believe, does.

So, would you like Tabasco with your keyboard??

I will probably delete this in a few . . . it is not something I am comfortable talking about and if they ever saw it they would know what I think even though I have kept quiet.

yeah, I hope it isn't the norm . . . these people I talked about are crazy. I am glad you saw that right away so I could delete it.

So, your overall point is that people don't use abortion as birth control. I think, generally, that is true. I think if it weren't so easy to get an abortion some people would be more careful.

I really am pro-choice and there are times when I really think it is the right thing to do . . . especially in the cases you mentioned. I would like to see there be a balance.

You know the whole . . . "it is my body I can do what I want" I wish would also be true of medicine. I wish I could run my own tests and decide what is best for myself. It will never happen but the whole health care system sucks, jmho.

There are people who use abortion for birth control.

I also know several women who used abortion as a means of birth control. One was my room mate many years ago. She has never gotten over it. No husband and no kids, 20 years later, she is miserable. I don't know anyone who was raped, much less got pregant because of that rape. I also don't know anyone who is the victim of incest. I know there are many out there who are, but certainly not the majority of women who get abortions. Most women who get abortions are not the victims of a crime, just poor judgement.

All I know is that I'm going to stand before God Almighty one day, and I am not going to have to explain why I support abortion. You may not believe you are going to be judged, but guess what, you will anyway.

Go ahead and call me names, it doesn't bother me in the least.

You will see . . . mark my words . . . George W shoes are harder to fill than you think. He made difficult decisions to protect us. They weren't popular decisions; and I am sure he know that he would catch some heat for those decisions; but he bravely and unselfishly chose to be unpopular.

Joshie, everyone else has gotten away from Bush bashing . . . why are you still there? Let it go.

What is the deal with you and Oprah?? I keep thinking I'm going to find out that Oprah is the new first lady, or something.

Again, I'll go to Obama's words from his address on Tuesday.

“For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus — and non-believers.”

Remember, not everyone believes in God. That should be ok. Our founding fathers, surely a religious lot, guaranteed us a separation of church and state in our Constitution.

See, that's honest. Just admit that it's a religious issue for you.

We have different religious beliefs. I do not believe that I will stand before your notion of god and be judged.

With that said, and given that it seems to be a religious issue for you, I would prefer that your version of religion not dictate what our government does. I like the whole separation of church and state.

It's fine with me if people don't believe in God. I'm not one of those Christians who beats people over the head with religion. But we will all be judged. Take your chances if you wish. It's your loss.

I'm sure I'll be accused of being a right winged religious fanatic. That could not be further from the truth, but I'm not insulted by the label.

From Cypressgirl: "But we will all be judged. Take your chances if you wish. It's your loss."

This has been debated over the ages by people much wiser than you and me. Yet, you just assume it to be so.

Keep in mind that you run the risk of insulting many who do not believe as you do. For example, for Jews there is no judgment day. So, when you continue to exist that there is, you come across as imposing your religion on others.
