This really is a fascinating thread, I just wrapped up a conversation with RickG on another thread on the best way to bring island beer back home and it made me realize that beer, margaritas, and trips to St. John are a lot cheaper and more fun than therapy.

I wasn't here when this was originally posted, which is good because -- I'll be honest -- I can be a big, old booze bag.

Actually, I work my hiney off for 51 weeks a year. I work hard, and I get one week where no one calls me and I don't have to make any decisions harder than Trunk vs. Cinnamon or Beach Bar vs. Quiet Mon. I love it. Rum is cheaper than soda on St. John, and I do love me some distilled cane sugar.

We're all hard working grown ups the rest of our lives. If we want to have a few mango painkillers at Skinny Legs that doesn't make us bad people.

And if it does, someone hold my drink while we get on the jitney to Betty Ford...

You guys are great, and we do obsess about villas and neat sheets WAY more than booze.

Maybe my next vacation should be to Betty Ford. Oh well, I'll be there tomorrow, with drink in hand, for 9 glorious days.

Okay, when you meet me at the dock on Friday, make sure you have some kind of "libation" in your hand for me!!! 8)

From an ex-lurker/newbie (first trip was 3 weeks ago and found this forum very helpful)...love the sight and everyone's varying contributions/opinions on posts. Bottom line, when on St. John, I was able to put the fun back in dysfunctional...and happily, didn't make an ars out of myself doing it. Can't wait to go back for some beaches, sunsets, painkillers on Jost and lunch at Shiela's Pot.

I am right there with Go Bucs when we are on island our routine every night is Beach bar to Woody's and up to Quiet Mon.It's part of getting away and relaxing and destressing when we get back to Tampa we hardly ever go to any bars. We go to St.John to have fun which includes painkillers and beer.

It's funny. This thread has been viewed over 27000 times now. Big deal! On the off-topic forum the "food porn" thread has been viewed over 42000 times. Me thinks we seem to be obsessed with eating too!

:o Gosh...I'm a former lurker too...and a pretty new poster. But, has she never looked at the beautiful photo's you guys put on or the great info. on hiking trails, restaurants and villa's? Maybe she's not reading the same things I have! We have been to STJ a bunch but I still have learned a lot of great info. here that I didn't know and that will make
our next trip even better. Thanks guys!!

Fun stuff!

Post by JT »

I bumped this up again because it came up on the off topic forum about the funniest stuff on usvi-on-line. For those that never saw it, it's mostly belly busting funny. It's fun to re-read it again every once in a while, too!
