Do you peek?

When I was young and living at home I would use an exacto knife and slice the tape open, check out the gift and then retape it. Did that every year....even when my mom would try and hide the gifts well. She never did figure it out that I did that. I told her some years later and she was surprised that I did that all those years. I told my wife all this before we got married and every year since she hides the gifts and wraps them asap. Then she checks the tape lines to verify. I have not sliced any tape open since I was a kid. However, I usually know everything that she gets me as I have picked it out at one point or another. Its easy this year though as we are getting a new PC and I am picking it out. No need to even wrap it and it makes Christmas shopping really easy for both of us!

I never peeked but would definitely shake, weigh, and generally try to guess. When I was growing up my mom was the queen of clues. She would do clues on every gift card to try to make us figure out who it was for and what it was. But first she would wrap everything, leave the tags off, and write in shorthand on the bottom, since the rest of us couldn't read shorthand. Once we decided to fool her and wrote squiggles on the bottom of a gift to her. She kept saying "I can't read my own short hand," and finally unwrapped her own gift a few days before Christmas.

I never peek.

I either buy my presents then give them to Honey in the shopping bag for him to wrap or put them on hold and tell Honey where they are so he can go get them, or take Honey and point stuff out so he can go back later and get it.

I never peek cause I already know what I'm getting.
