Aaaahhhh.....Lake Lanier....that's where we used to go for "Senior Skip Day" in high school. Not me, of course. Just those other kids that did that sort of thing.

We can never manage to pry ourselves away from STJ to make it to the BVIs, but your report really makes me want to make the trip east...I'm dying for some good snorkeling! I’ve heard a lot about Foxy, and now he sounds like my kind of guy

I don’t see any underwater pics from the Indians, does that mean you decided against getting the Olympus?

Teresa, in the interest of being economical, we decided against the Olympus. We didn't do any underwater pictures and decided to just enjoy the memories. Until I can do the full works, external flash, etc, I probably won't tackle any underwater photography.

Well, with my camera breaking the way it did only a few days into our last trip, it sounds like I would have been better off saving my money and putting it toward a trip to the BVI!

Hmm... your report makes me want to plan a day trip, but I'm not confident about surviving a boat-ride. Snorkeling at the Indians and the caves... I may have to just dream about it.

I smiled through this entire installment. The book at Willy's, Foxy's, Soggy Dollar, and the gorgeous snorkeling at the Indians. I do not think on a calm day, you could get much better than that!

I'd really like to try and snorkel at The Indians, and I suppose a trip to some of the famous places in the BVIs is also something we should get under our belts.

Since we'll be there in low season, what are the odds of securing a last minute spot on a boat, or even a charter if we can find some others that would like to share one?

If you've never done it, I would give it a try. You do need a power boat if you are going to Indians/Norman Island and Jost.

Nauti Nymph and Ocean Runner are certainly good options if you're an experienced boater and the weather is good. I prefer to have someone else do the work. Born to Rhumb can take parties larger than 6, plus Palm Tree Charters and Lion in da Sun.

I would go ahead and schedule something, if you're in the mood. Otherwise, take the phone numbers with you so you can call on island. If you're flexible someone will fit you in.

Thanks Rick - I'll probably take all of the numbers with me as you suggest - we've scheduled two days of boat diving and a daysail charter one day, so I'll want to be as flexible as possible (plans wise) for the rest of them..

You could always dive the Rhone! I like it as a snorkel too.

Augie - I tried to schedule our day with Lion in Da Sun before we left, and they told me "don't bother." Basically, they said call us when you get here so we can tell you which days have good forecasts. I did that and they had four days left.

If you have a smaller group, the day trip on New Horizons or Breakaway is really good. It's out of STT but they stop in St. John to pick people up. I like the private charter better, but it's expensive for two.
