What beautiful pictures !! Mary Beth, it looks so peaceful there! I pine for that kind of quiet.

And Walden Pond is always so lovely.

Here are a couple more from "metrowest Boston."

LOVE all those beautiful pictures! The colors are starting to turn here but we still have alot of green. Another couple of weeks and we should be more colorful!

My daughter played soccer this morning on a field ringed by tall trees. The green of the field and the golds and reds of the trees were beautiful to see.

This confirms a theory I've had for a long time. While New England does have spectacular foliage, there are other places that have very nice colors and different types of trees.

I'd love to see some more fall photos from other parts of the country...
Still waiting to return to St. John!

Beautiful colors, Maryanne.

The pictures are all so beautiful. I just love the colour. Our leaves are all tuning & falling, I just love the looks of them as they change.

We had a beautiful fall weekend, with a very warm sun, so it made for a great weekend to be outside & enjoy the beauty of fall.

My one beef of the fall is the stupid Black Walnut tree in our back yard, it is so messy, we have already picked up 1500 nuts............. & sucked up the leaves twice in two days  But that is part of the season

theshopper3,
That's so funny, we have one of those trees in our yard in Massachusetts also. When I was "home" in September I was quite amused by the squirrels going beserk in their nut gathering.
One year I gathered all the walnut pods up in a bushel basket and put them in the barn. I was going to harvest the walnuts later, but when I went back in a month and the basket was empty. Those squirrels loved me that year.

Do the walnuts stick to the permafrost? I thought the tundra had no trees?

I hope the dog sled team is well rested and ready for the run to the airport!

Cheers, RickG

We have a lot of oaks hanging over our yard and a few years back we, literally, had an inch of acorns covering our yard.

It was dangerous to walk across our lawn for fear of going ass over tea kettle or twisting an ankle- like in a freakin' cartoon! I couldn't even sit on my front stairs as I would be bombarded.

This year (knock on wood) it's not as bad. But the squirrels tend to stash the acorns under my big hosta as it melts and I have to use the snow shovel to get em all outta my garden when I do my fall clean-up.
