Dave, another fun thing to do is rent a dinghy for the day. We did this last time from Noah's Little Arks. You can take it all the way over to Waterlemon. It was so much fun, and very easy to do. It's a great way to see St. John from the water, and at your own pace as well.

Capt. Phil knows a BUNCH of good snorkel spots and he gets in the water with you and shows you things! We were novice snorkelers and he helped us a LOT, now I'm totally confident in the water.
Here's a link to some pictures of our day with Capt. Phil. Be sure to click on the last thumbnail, as those are underwater pictures taken at Lovongo Cay.

Welcome Dave (fellow Clevelander!)
We are going to be on STJ in February for 11 days. We are considering a day sail to JVD and the Baths. The Breakaway sounds like a great one for us. We are also considering renting a dinghy for a day as well. We also want to get to some of the tougher snorkel sites.
We are also staying on the Coral Bay side for our trip. We are staying at Rhumb Runners. I am so looking forward to it, especially since I'm looking outside right now and see all these black clouds (they look like snow clouds ~~ UGH!)
Welcome to the forum! The people here are great...non-judgemental and full of information! I think you'll like it.

Calli Girl:.........Love the pics. I'm more low-end on photog so I pretty much rely on disposable when underwater. Wish mine looked like yors.
alw 1977:...........Rent a dingy...BRILLIANT!
Now THAT sounds like something I'd love and my sweetie would cringe at. We have an interesting history with self-supervised watercraft.
Since we'd essentially be huggin the shoreline, I think I could talk her into it.
luvinsub:...........Yo Painesville...Brecksville here.
Those clouds do look waaaay too familiar!
If you haven't been to JVD or The Baths you should. Both are unique, top-end experiences.

Dave - I'm pretty low-end myself when it comes to photography. Most of the land pictures are a collaboration of photos both my husband & took. All of the underwater ones are mine. I have a Canon SD400 with an all weather case (good down to 10 ft.) for underwater. Thank God for Photoshop!
