I agree with all of the above.
I think registering makes people responsible for their comments.

Defintely have people register! Forums with unregistered users are often filled with garbage posts. It turns away people that are actually interested in the subject matter that the forum is supposed to be about--which is bad for your business.

I agree that it is better to have people register before being able to post.

The board has spoken and it looks unanimous. Registration is the way to go (the way to remain). Thanks for asking us, Anthony. You run a great forum!

Anthony- You do such a great job.
I agree with everyone-Register.
I read a villa review lately that was
definitely done by the owner or the rental company.
I love hearing everyone's travel plans before and
after. It is so much fun to read when you know it
is legitimate and heartfelt.
Flip-FLop your report was so great- lovely family
who loves St. John like we do. I miss having little
ones.Such great family memories for you.

I am with everyone else on this. No good can from posts from unregistered readers. It has gotten to be a real problem on other boards, to the point that if I don't know the poster I just don't read. I have read studies on how people who are not normally cruel in real life hide behind the anonymity of the Internet to wreak havoc.

I think the masses have spoken and in our infinite wisdom have provided all the evidence needed to keep this a "register to post" essentially "pay to play" system.
It's also great for advertisers because you have a quality list of customers to point to. REAL people not just trolls or astroturfers.

Registering is easy. There is no downside to it. Agree with all who posted before me.

I totally agree with Liamsaunt. I had this experience on a hometown forum. I don't even bother going on there for what could be useful info. There is so much trash to weed through that it's just a waste of time.

I agree with all the above to register before posting as it will preserve and protect this wonderful forum, making it fun as well.

Okay! So its unanimous - anonymous commenters are welcome!!!
Seriously - thanks everyone. I don't think I have ever received so many comments to a post - I guess there are strong feelings out there, which I do agree with.
BTW - the registration CAPTCHA seems to be working flawlessly - not a single bogus registration since I installed it. I probably wasted 1,000 hours of my life doing this by hand the last couple of years... I don't want to think about it! Pass the rum -

How funny to compare this thread with a couple of years ago when you started this new format, Anthony! People didn't want to have to register, and now we wouldn't have it any other way!

Interesting observation... indeed.
