Yes, we leave June 19. Hubby and I and 3 twenty-somethings!!

Staying at Lavender Hill...I just hope the construction noise isn't bad! Has anyone been there recently?

Two months as of this past Wednesday for us. It will be the first time for an extended stay for both families that are sharing the villa, located on Klein Bay near Ditliff Pt.

Sixty days to go and we're already chomping at the bit. Of course, we're flying American, so we now have extra incentive to pack light.

Thanks to all who post here for some really incredible insights and information!

Cathy, I'll be there with my husband and another couple the 19th to 29th...we're 27, 28, 29, and 31...this will be my husband and my 6th annual honeymoon on STJ.

Bruce, you shouldn't have to pay the bag fee flying AA unless you purchased your tickets after they made the announcement :)

Teresa Rae, can you back me up on that? Everything I read says they'll charge the fee for everyone flying after some date in June. I know it's not fair, but that's the story I've seen.

Actually my wife (OK, me too) is a notorious overpacker, so this is a perfect tool to get us to go light.

We leave the 18th. We are a family of four with two kids. My son is 13 and daughter, 9. This is our first VI trip, and the first Caribbean trip for the kids. I hope they love it as much as we think they will! My biggest fears are that they won't take to snorkeling and that my daughter gets eaten alive by bugs. They just seem to love her so.

Bruce - go to the AA web site. I did yesterday - if you purchased the tickets before the announcements, you're grandfathered in.

Mine were bought so far in advance that we can bring two checked bags each with no surcharge.

As far as the original thread topic goes - what's the big deal?

I'm sure that the folks that were on the board last fall would verify that we weren't at all excited about our first trip to STJ.

Augie & Teresa Rae -- Thank you both...Went back and found the AA thread from yesterday, which has a link to the list of exceptions, including those who already bought. I'll make sure to print that out and have it with us during check-in!

Bruce, with the way things can go at the airport in STT, I’d also bring a receipt proving that you purchased your tickets when you did. :D
