7/12?! Darn, it seems as if I just miss you by a week every year!

I'm there for a few July 4th week. If I'm up on a weekend around 7/12, I'll keep an eye out for you guys.

And, yes, that place your mom points out used to be a retreat for nun's. We haven't seen them on the beach for quite a while (was it sold?) but we used to see them in their bathing suits (very 1950's style suits) , on the beach, passing by in their habits on a pontoon boat. Wild stuff!

So I'm not a thread stealer, I'll talk about my mom a bit....

We are very close and I'm a lot like her- opinionated, potty mouthed when appropriate, strong willed, independent and above all- a good sense of humor.

Because the holidays are so crazy with in-laws and extended step families etc, mom wants to do Christmas in July this summer for my brothers and our families 8) . We're gonna put up the tree and the Xmas decorations and exchange gifts! This way, it's one less party to think about during the holidays and they can go down to Florida pre-holidays tickets prices.

My mom has always been very flexible with holidays since myself & my brothers started our families. She hated the fact that Xmas had become a stress-fest instead of a family kin of time. I don;t know many mom's who will work around others families schedules... I have a pretty cool mom.

Lysa, we actually changed our week this year because my cousin's family couldn't make it - otherwise we'd be there at the same time! We pushed back one week.

Unfortunately, my mom passed away when I was 13 so I don't have any recent pictures of her. But I do have an awesome step-mom who helps watch my kids each year so Juice and I can escape to St. John! We keep telling her and my Dad to join us on a trip, but then who would watch the kids??!!

Happy Mom's Day to you and all your Mom's!

Treasure these times with your Mom. Mine has been gone for 6 years and I miss her so much.

I'm loving all these mom pictures and stories. MB - That pic of your mom with the umbrella is priceless! I hope that's me in about 30 years. 8)

Here's a picture of my mother and daughter at Disneyland about 6 years ago. I never saw my mother take a drink my entire life until about 3 years ago. Apparently she read or heard on the news that red wine makes you live longer, so now where ever we go she always has a glass. She wouldn't know merlot from cab, but I've finally got her to stop asking for the "purple wine". She now asks for a glass of red, but makes sure she informs the server she only drinks because it's good for her health. :)

Happy Mother's Day, everyone!

Here's MY Mom, taken about a year ago. Mom is pushing 89 and is awesome! She laid down her golf clubs at 84 and lived alone in Texas until last summer. She lives closer to us now in a retirement community (NOT a nursing home) in Williamsburg and is loving life. All her kids and grandkids are scattered up and down the East coast, We LOVE having her close!

Tomorrow I take her and MIL to a broadway show, will be a fun day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers and grandmothers!
My Mother turned 90 in January. She lives on her own in a condo not far from me. She's alert and loves life. In fact, just two weeks ago she bought a new 2008 car and loves it. Drives herself to most local areas. Does all her own cooking, cleaning, and shopping! My daughter and my husband are planning a special dinner for us. Wish I could post a picture of Mom but I don't have one that's from a digital camera. I must tell you that at age 82 she hopped on a plane to STT and took the ferry over to STJ all by herself to visit me. She loved the island and the people.
