The actual hike wasn't the problem for my kids, it was how hot it was. My daughter can't tolerate hot weather (born in WI). I am the opposite. I love tropical weather!

Good idea to make them the pack mules though.

Waterlemon walk

Post by Gizzmo »

The walk is about about a mile and is full of ROCKS. Big ones, little ones and in between! Last year a couple next to us laid sandals to close to the beach and the tide washed them out to sea. Getting out with no shoes is not an option! So we loaned them sandals
which we never got back. The bottom line to this story is..... IF YOU GO TO WATERLEMON, DON'T LOOSE YOUR SHOES!!!!

We took our kids with us to STJ for the first time a few years ago, and our then 18-year-old daughter whined every time we took her on a hike, including to Waterlemon. (You should have heard her half-way to Ram's Head!)

Funny thing is, we're taking them again in a couple of weeks, and when we asked her what she is looking forward to most, one of the first things she said was "snorkeling at Waterlemon." I reminded her that you have to hike to get there, and she said, "Yeah, but that wasn't too bad of a hike."

With a name like Shoemaker what can I say? When I was in the Army (many, many,…years ago) my line was I’ll sell you a pair of Army boots like you’re wearing for $200 (cost then $17).

2Feathers yes it’s my 15 year old (going on 20) that I know will whine.
