I understand Bug's post. It is a very personal decision, and one about which we can disagree. From my perspective, there are some men who like blonds and some who like brunettes, etc. I, me, simply prefer women without tattoos. My opinion and 50 cents ($2.50 for you Starbucks types) will get you a cup of coffee.

I got my tattoo at age 35. Dolphin jumping thru a quarter moon..outside right ankle. 11 years later I still love it. I don't remember ever covering it up for any reason. Sometimes I forget it's there. Its me, and everyone who knows me understands that. If someone wants to judge...go ahead..they dont know me and who cares what they think! If you really want one, get one and enjoy it. The people you care about and that are important to you will remain just that.

Also, lets say I worked with you and saw you on the weekend at the supermarket and I could see your tattoos, you would be OK with that correct?
I'm just having a hard time understanding why someone would go through all the trouble to get a tattoo, just to cover it. To me it would be like buying a picture and keeping it covered up.
I believe that there is a time and place for everything. If you saw me on the weekend at the Motorcycle Club, you would see my tattoos. If you saw me on the weekend at a wedding at the Country Club, you would not see my tattoos. Now, there are always places in between but I think you get what I'm trying to say.
I love my tattoos. Each one of them has a meaning to me. That was the point of getting them. I don't care if another human ever see's them. I see them. I might be covering them from you, but I still know they're there!!

Hey Tracy,
First off welcome to the 40's club! I've been a member for 5 years. Also good luck in the triathlon sounds like your training is well on its way!!!!! As far as the sea turtle, there have been some great photo's shared on this site maybe someone can post a few options for you? or just search the photo sites. I really like the photo's that have the turtles ascending to the surface with alot of water spots around the turtle and a variation of blue green water. I'm not sure how an artist would feather it out, but take a photo with you. Where you put it is your choice!!
Now stop reading and go run 5 miles!

Year before last I went to a job interview and got the job on the spot. One reason? My new employer told me I was the first applicant to show up with no tattoos or piercings (except my ears). And this guy was hip (ex-Texas Rangers pitcher), not some old fuddy duddy. I thought that was an interesting comment from a professional's point of view.
I have 3 tattoos. Two of them you will see only during the summer months. On my right ankle. One is a dolphin on the inside of my ankle, the other is a seahorse with some starfish around it on the outside of my ankle.
I don't regret getting them. They're really cute, but if I'm wearing a dress or a skirt to something, they just don't seem to fit in.
The other one is on my lower right back. A cross with flowers entwined around it. It's my biggest and I do regret getting that one. It was for my daughters fiance and I know when my husband sees it (even though I usually can't) it makes him really sad. He died and alot of people got tattoos in his memory.
You really have to be careful where you put a tattoo and the meaning of it. I can't stand to see the tattoo on my husband chest that he got after the fiance's death. It says Dan and the date of his death.
That being said, just be very careful that you're absolutely postitive you want a tattoo and where you're going to put it.
It can be an additive thing to do to your body. I'm always thinking about "what's next" as far as tattoos go, but i'm definetly done.

Bravo Bug & Ksea!
Well written and easily understood!
Tracy, you still out there??

Hey Tracy,
Some of these folks should read your post again, I don't think you were asking what they thought of tattoos. This is an old saying but opinions are like a--holes and apparently there are some large ones out there! By the way I don't have a tattoo, but I am a "professional" and I don't have a problem with discreet tattoos in a professional workplace. I hired a young lady a year ago and just recently I noticed a butterfly tattoo on her ankle, I didn't think man what a non-professional or I'll never look at her the same again, it's her thing and that's that, she's a great employee.
Take care,
Budman

First, you are correct. In rereading Tracy's post she wasn't asking whether she should get a tattoo, she was asking where. I, along with many others, missed that point. It was a bit misleading when she said that she "thinks" she needs a tattoo...not, "I've decided to get a tattoo." But, no matter.budman wrote:Hey Tracy,

Second, by expressing an opinion in your post are you admitting that you are just an a$$hole like the rest of us?
