There is a song about the price of saltfish I heard two weeks ago when I was on STJ playing on my car radio anyone know who sings it?

One song I really like is Pump Me Up by Krosfyah. It's on the Caribbean Party CD that I think I bought at St. John Spice. It makes me dance all over the house!

Someone already mentioned Sailing--I love that song.

Another good one: If I Had a Boat, by Lyle Lovett.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

I agree with Sasky and Flip flop: Iz's Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Actually, the whole CD Alone in Iz World is great, and we play it all the time when we want remember our time in Maui, where we bought this album. We discovered Hawaiian Slack Key guitar when we were on the Big Island and Maui, too. Check out the Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar. It's not just instrumental--there are beautiful vocals, too. When we play that, we are transported back on the Road to Hana, convertible top down, wind in our hair.... ah, island life.

Have fun

As an unapologetic Parrothead, I made this CD for our 2004 trip. Now, on this trip, I was turning 30:

Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes
Boat Drinks
Island Fever
Manana
Barefoot Children in the Rain
Southern Cross
Everybody's Talking
Growing Older, not up
Creola
Migration
Cuban Crime of Passion
Tin Cup Chalice (BTW the song my daughter and I will dance to at her wedding)
The Wino and I Know
Stars on the Water
Take Another Road
One Particular Harbour
When the Coast is Clear.

Of course, when I arrive and get to the house, the first thing that goes on is Bob Marley's Legend.

But, my favorite thing to do is to pop on Creola at sunset.

I also like a little Buble while sitting outside in the dark. I hope the folks in Great Cruz Bay like him too. Because, come August, they're all going to hear it.

I'll have to add some of these to my new IPOD. Everyone had one but me! I figured it was time. Now I have to learn how to work it!!!

My personal favorite island song, the one that just does it for me is "Island in the Sun" by Weezer.

Hey Gene,

I like Dave Matthews for tropical vacations. His music is mellow/fun/funky....well suited for island breezes and sunshine! And of course Marley's "Stir it up" and Johnny Nash's "I can see clearly now"... :)

Hope this helps,

Absolutely no apologies necessary!! My preference is "All Jimmy, All Day", but our fellow vacationers had some other ideas. I agree with some Marley, and the soundtrack to "The Harder They Come" is perfect too. Can't forget Toots & The Maytalls as well.

Have to check out the iPod tonight to see what was on the playlist when we were on St John in February.

Santana's entire "Abraxas" album.
My hubby and I always seem to listen to that one several times a trip to STJ, especially after dark.

Eric Lindell's "Give It Time" is AWESOME. The music in that song is just so laid back and mellow and makes you want to have a drink on the beach.

His two cds are both AWESOME!!!!

Also, Dave Matthews Band rocks my world no matter where I am :)

Okay, it was hard for me to pick just one song. It took all day, pretty much.
Here it is and I hope you love it:
"Iwoya" - Angelique Kidjo & Dave Matthews.

And here are 150 more of my favorites, but they may not really be "islandy", except to me.
