Eddie Vedder.......he is sooooooo hott!!!
did not even know he wore birks......
I like my Tevas and they did me fine on island.
I do love my flip flops but am having some issues with my body and need more support so FF's are not the best.
My sisters loves her Birks and she has back issues and just thinks they are the best shoe......

Speaking of Eddie Vedder -- if you get the Sundance Channel they were doing re-runs of their Iconoclasts series. One episode is Laird Hamilton (surfer married to Gabrielle Reece) + Eddie Vedder. Didn't know anything about either but it ws an interesting episode. Catch it if you can!

BTW: College doesn't count, we were poor and too busy studying to think about fashion!

Get the Birks flip-flops I posted. They have great support. It's almost surprising. Honestly, that's why I ditched my regular flip-flops for them.

I don't know if Eddie wears Birks or not, but he made it cool to wear flannel and thermal shirts with jeans everywhere. I am not a big fan of shoes, so Birks were better for me than those work boots all the other grungy kids wore. The mid-90s were great, weren't they? It's amazing the kids who grew up then have jobs and mortgages now.

I pretty much lived in sweats and flip-flops. When I have a choice, little has changed!

Oh, but the scrunchies...not good. Not at all good.

My friend actually bought my Birks on one of the home shopping channels. QVC, I think.

They were only $56 maybe? I was surprised to see them at $73 on Zappos because they are usually the cheapest place to get shoes.

OK, I went and looked and my sandals are expensive on QVC now too.

BUT I found these, and I'm totally buying a pair of them at this introductory price. They can sit in the box until it gets warm again.

(The link didn't work. Standby!)

Going back to the Crocs, I too think they are horrendous and "don't get it" they just look soooooo uncomfortable. I got a pair of Keen for my husband this summer and he LOVES them. He wore them all the time when we were in St. John.

But I did notice a lot of people (tourists and locals alike) wearing the Crocs.

I wanted to give all of the flip-flop lovers an update on my new Birks, which I got last week and have only taken off to come to work.

They are a harder plastic than Crocs, but they mold to your feet and are very comfy. Much like my leather Birks flip-flops, I can't even tell that I have shoes on. They've been great for putzing around the house so far, and I did wear them out in public once.

They'd be great for someone who needs a flip-flop with arch support, although I might still get a pair of the crocs flips at some point.

My only issue with shoes like that.....is when it rains on island and the roads get slick I always feel like I will slide.
for some reason in my tevas I do not and also in my reefs.......

I don't think you would slide, but I'll let you know once I put them to the test.

I should know better that to chime in when all that estrogen gets to talking about shoes, but...Keens are the ultimate river shoe and I have had shoe-envy since returning from a week on the Salmon River this past July. I have Chacos, Tevas, Crocs, Reefs, and a $2.37 pair of cheap toxic flipflops.

Four weeks ago (sigh) we were looking through the dump box at Jolly Dog in Coral Bay (I have at least 2 doz t-shirts from the last 10 years), when we ran across women's Keens...1/2 price! Mrs. Random loves her new Keens. I still have shoe-envy.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
