No question about it. Catherinberg has almost constant North Shore breezes, it is usually 10-15 degrees cooler than in Cruz bay. We used to rent Anole but found the pool too cool to use most of the time. You will find many comments that AC is not needed on most of these villas and it is true, it is really nice to have the breeze in your room and not AC. We found we like a hot tub on this side and really did not use AC or a pool. If you are used to the S shore you probable think you can not live with out AC or a pool... try the N shore. you are only minutes from the beach also. :o

Steve - Don't mean to be a PAIN. But another question. Even in June? I really like the idea of being mid way between Cruz and Coral. Not 1/2 an hour from either you know. We spend lots of time at Maho and Francis & Skinny Legs.

sorry, I was away from the computer... I am usually a lurker but I love to talk about STJ!

I timed the drive from Catherinberg (La Jolla Caribe specifically) barring traffic I can get to Cruz bay in 12 - 15 minutes... Coral bay not much longer, once we had a bet, I went down John Head rd to N Shore Dr to Coral bay and a friend went up to Centerline...I won and I do not drive too fast.
I have been in La Jolla Caribe in June and July and August, Anole in July as well as villas around Coral Bay etc I prefer no AC and Catherinberg... the rare times there is a doldrum and no breeze it can get sultry in the summer (never in the winter) but every room has ceiling fans and extra box fans if needed in the closets. It is important that the villa is built to take advantage of the breeze (breezeways in the back to allow cross ventilation and not sitting in a hole). There is somethng to be said for getting a bit acclamated so when you do head out you are not going from refrigerator to a soaking sweat fest...
I just can't find a more beautiful view than the N Shore with the BVI on the horizon and we spend most days snorkling and enjoying the N Shore beaches and hikes around there and the East end. I do not like driving alot and there you are in the middle of everywhere we like to go.

You are the voice of St John, I am all too happy to lend my experience!!! :)

8wks to STJ!

PS we love those places too, you can see Francis from the deck... We have even swam from Cinnamon around the point to Maho and vice versa. The drive to those beaches on N Shore Dr just below Catherinberg is breath taking...
