Rhumblines has remained open after the building suffered a fire thus the construction fencing - but they were unaffected so were able to continue serving.

Sun Dog has recently started doing Sunday brunch, so if you get a chance, I'd definitely recommend you stop in for that.
I ate there recently and ordered the crab benedict, and I was very impressed...the crab was actual real crab, like fresh out of the shell.
I'd say their Sunday brunch is the best breakfast in town right now.

Thanks all again for the info. So Rhumblines has construction going on? Does it affect the atmosphere of the place? Figures we finally want to go there but not if there are fences all around? Hmmm, so it sounds as Pastory Gardens may be a place to try. Not sure if hubby would follow me in though if it looks a little iffy. We did try Caps once at night so maybe could

Did that one place ever reopen near the Westin? I think it was called Simple Feast? I remember when we went last Oct. they were closed. Its a shame, we used to love going there to grab a bite in the AM.

Liamsaunt - Yes we will be on the island around the same time! and I will see about the 19th (we'll be at Caneel then) so we may want to stay there for our last night. If not - the airport it is on the 20th!!

I think the only place open in Coral Bay while we're there is Skinny Legs. That's about it!

As of two weeks ago Simple Feast was closed.

As for Pastory Gardens, it doesn't look so much iffy as unfinished. My hubby is the same. He will not eat from roadside stands, so we had no BBQ . My advice is to just hustle him by the netting and point him toward the view

Susan, Simple Feast is gone for good. I am hoping that the new Starfish wine and prepared foods market will be open by next month. Probably not, but it's worth hoping for. In the meantime, there's Deli Grotto in Mongoose for sandwiches.

We'll actually be at Caneel then too--we are spending a week at Gallows and then our last 2 nights at Caneel. I love Caneel's beaches and snorkeling, but not so much the food, that's why we are planning on going to Stone Terrace. I've never eaten at Turtle Bay though, just Equator and the two beach front places. Am I missing something good at Turtle Bay? I doubt I could get John to bring down a jacket in any event, but if I heard raves about it I'd consdier thinking about trying.

Simple feast is closed for good.

I doubt Starfish (Gourmet) will be open next month - they have a "peep hole" cut into the board with the words "LOOK" and an arrow pointing to the hole. We looked inside and it's still just a tiled floor and concrete walls - have no idea what they have been doing for x number of months

Fish Trap and Stone Terrace normally close at the same time since they are owned by the same family.....You should try if you can to go the 19th when they reopen........Stone Terrace is so good.
As far as breakfast......if you go to Coral Bay go to Donkey Diner and then you can do the beaches out on the East End.
Also Deli Grotto is good.. Sheffy (the owner) makes really good pastries and I love his sandwiches.....
I also love Hercules and I think Rick said they still do breakfast......Also never can go wrong with a Tamrind Inn breakfast.....

That's great about Rhumblines - always wanted to go there. I will make my way to Deli Grotto at Mongoose when I make my annual visit to the Body Deli there. Love that place.

Liamsaunt - the Turtle Bay Estate Restaurant is very good (better then the Equator) but the service can be slow (like the Equator). I would almost go there just to have a glass (or bottle0 of wine at the bar area (great wine selection). Its a nice location and it is great at night. We are doing the meal plan (I know shame on us) for the last 3 nights so that's probably why we are staying there then. We'll just have to go back and check out the Stone Terrace next year!

Also how is the Banana Deck? I noticed that it reopens on the 15th next month and we will still be there.

We loved the Banana Deck. Some had steak (which is their specialty I believe), DJ had chicken something and I had a fried chicken salad that was HUGE. They also serve iced tea (we were sooo thirsty) as well as tropical concoctions of every kind. We enjoyed sitting near the bar which was in the shade. We arrived very grubby from our day at JVD and it was no problem. We got there right when they opened for dinner so it was not crowded.

I think Ruth's chart said that Cafe Roma is closed during October. I remember being sad that I was going to miss it.

We're there 10/7-10/14. Is that earlier than everyone else?
