The bed was terrible, both of us ended up in the middle and only a small sheet to fight about. Glad that I at least had my own pillow.

And

There was a huge bed compared with the one in NY, but again only one mattress. I cannot understand why king beds and queen beds are so popular. I hate them. When hb moves, I jump up, feel as if I am on a trampoline.

Ha - thats pretty funny about the beds. First time to Europe in May we looked at this kind of bed in photo below and said "what the...??" but it was kinda nice (maybe not so much if you are newly wed).

to Jmq. I wasn't aware that it is not only in hotels and houses for rent that king and queen bed are so popular. As I understand you it’s also common in the family? If I were a businessman in USA I would start a business selling double beds and convince the Americans that they will sleep much better with to mattresses. And it’s not a problem to be a honeymooner. Our first bed was very narrow. I think more narrow than a queen bed, but still with two mattresses. But you put them in the same “frame” and you just have one sheet, which covers both of them. Hb and me still feel that we are honeymooners, so we have the same system in our bed today, the mattresses are just bigger.
So what about starting a new business?

Hello Linne,

I don't think the two bed business works very well here in the USA, they are now building 2 Master bedrooms in new homes. One for the lady of the house and the other for the spouse. Reasons, snoring, insomnia, early riser, late sleeper etc.

First let me say that your English is very good. I too am a history buff and I’m enjoying reading your report. I like to get the views of people that do not live in the US – it is interesting to get a different perspective. I’m off to read your next report.
