Pirate Bill

My husband and I ran into "Pirate" or "Barnacle Bill" as we referred to him - on our 1st visit to St. John in 2001, at Skinny Legs - he was a most wonderful and interesting St. John character. My husband had several conversations with him over the course of our years vacationing on St. John everytime we visited Skinny's. In 2007 we went down with 2 of my closest friends for Thanksgiving and "Bill" took a real liking to my dear and exceptionally beautiful friend Lorraine. We were there for a Skinny Legs fundraiser and dance and he followed her around all evening dancing with her and calling her "LaLane" - "OH LALANE WHERE ARE YOU".... She said Bill was the highlight of her evening and made her laugh all night - we still talk about that night at Skinny's..... I'm sure she will feel sad when she hears about his passing just as we were - we will miss "Pirate Bill" a true St. John icon......
