Re: Who is your favorite jeep rental company?
We've used C&C the past 3 years and have a reservation with them for this summer as well. Their Jeeps have a little "character" and aren't brand new by any means, but that just adds Island Character in my opinion
. We've never had any issues with the vehicles and the staff is nice enough.
One thing to be aware of is that they are closed on Saturdays, so you'll have to make arrangements to pick up or drop off if you're traveling on a Saturday.

I have used them 6 times in the last 3 years without any issues. They will pick you up at the ferry and they're dependable.

We've used Cool Breeze for both of our trips. Jeep was great, we had no problems.
We returned our jeep a few hours late on our last trip, but there was no charge for being late.

We've always used Bougainvillea Leasing (stjohnjeeps.com). Its run by the Schnells out of their studio in town. Very nice people, and accommodating when we arrived on the island late on Sunday evening. Highly recommend. Parking is at the Amore building and a short walk to town. Never had a problem with having a spot for us to park.
Re: Who is your favorite jeep rental company?
What jeep rental places are available right in STT airport. I've rented from there a couple times but can't remember which company I used. Also, I'm looking for a 4-door Wrangler. We have 4 adults and our luggage will never fit in the 2 door. Thanks!

We live on an island in northern Vermont. We see lots of tourists. When we travel we believe in supporting the local economy so we always rent on STJ. The Suttons are on our Christmas card list. Enough said.

Also, we got some scratches on ours last year because the place we were staying had some overgrowth issues on the road in, and they were cool with it, no charges, no fuss. We've rented with them again for this year.
Re: Who is your favorite jeep rental company?
Another shout out for Conrad Sutton...Mr. Congeniality he is not, but I love the guy. I don't think anybody on STJ works harder than he does. He is never far from the parking lot and he actually wants you to call him day or night if anything happens so that he can address it immediately. I once blew out both tires on the left side of the car at the same time...totally my fault...I accidentally hugged the left side of the road too much and drove in that water run-off gully. It was after hours, but he came out with a jack and another spare and I was back on the road like nothing happened. Didn't even miss our dinner reservations.
Speaking of...when we'll go to dinner in Cruz Bay and park in his lot, which is very convenient, we'll come back after dinner to find that he's turned the car around so it's easier to get out.
Full disclosure, like KT, I've never rented from anyone else (5 times). But I think it's also just as telling that we won't be renting from anyone else but Conrad either.

It’s not about yesterday or tomorrow...It’s about today, for come what may – Sun, rain, or hurricane – we've only time for a smile, and none for sorrow

Re: L & L L&L jeep rental St John
Re : L & L jeep. St John I have a down note for these guys.. Be careful when renting from L&L jeep the owner is known for charging your credit card for every little thing he can. We had a bad experience with this company.. Extra charges and a bad temper.. After our trip we looked into them a little more and found many bad reviews with people having the same problems.. I normally wouldn't write a negative review as any one can have a bad experience with a small vendor, but this company left me feeling that I was set up for overcharges to be followed up with threats and intimidation.. Other then that we had a great trip.... The locals recommended that we rent a car by the airport in St Thomas from a major chain and ferry the car over. Next time we will. St John is one of the most wonderful places we have ever stayed.
Re: Who is your favorite jeep rental company?
I will say this: While we have only rented from L&L once, it was an excellent experience. Considering that we were VERY late arriving in STJ (boisterous arguments among the cab drivers at the airport delayed everything - another story), the person who answered the phone (owner?) was very flexible and helpful. We didn't arrive in STJ until almost 6:30PM, and yet, after the phone calls, our guy was at the dock with our Jeep and paperwork. No problem. No hassles.
I will also say the the Jeep was newer-looking and in better shape than the last couple of Jeeps that we have rented from either Courtesy and/or St. John Car Rental.
Now, to be fair, we also have read stories of a difficult-to-deal-with staff at L&L, and also of their "pickiness" when it comes to things like sand in the Jeep after the rental, etc. We've seen our share of somewhat to very negative reviews of this firm.
But based on our rental last year, the service was great, the staff was friendly, the Jeep was in better-than-STJ-normal condition, and we were not overcharged or yelled at.
Based on the facts above, and the fact that they offer a 10% discount in August and Sept. (when we visit STJ), we'll most likely use them again this year.
I'm not saying that EMT58 didn't have his or her troubles with them, I'm only relating our experience with a sense of fair play.

If you want a newish vehicle and a close and caring company then you must consider bougainvillealeasing.com . Donald and Debbie Schnell have a class operation that is the best. Been coming to St John since 1991 and they are the way to go. Have a late flight then they will work with you as well as give a repeat discount on your next trip. They also support this website.Eric is their man Friday. Yes you can park at the shop! God bless....Bill

Re: Who is your favorite jeep rental company?
Does anyone know if these companies even rent a 4-door Wrangler with a soft top? I'd hate to ruin the beautiful weather in something without a convertible. I've only seen the 2-doors with a soft top.
Re: Who is your favorite jeep rental company?
By convertible, do you mean you intend to put the Jeep top down? If so, be aware that all rental agencies prohibit it.
