That's not all - the VINP are planning on paving the trail from Cruz Bay to Soloman and Honeymoon !!! Let me know if anyone wants to sign the petition once it is up and running

That is insane. First the stairs, now this? My husband and I would definitely sign a petition.

I have been troubled by this since I learned of it last week. Honeymoon beach has been a favorite of mine since my first visit to St. John. To me, it has always been a quiet, natural and beautiful stretch of sand (I know, like so many beaches on St. John!) Having said that, when we were there this past June it had changed. I took a photo of literally about 150 to 200 people being dropped off to snorkel from a variety of boats. It was chaos! I'm not a hater, I know that everyone deserves to get the most out of what little vacation time we all get. But I left the beach feeling a little sad as well as concerned about the impact on the coral, marine life, etc. I should say that I'm not opposed to Caneel either. I've stayed there, I think it's a beautiful property. However, I've seen changes there as well. They nickel and dime for everything now, parking is just one example. They now close down the resort for two months. The Honeymoon Beach Hut as just another example of how they need to recoup their costs for the closure. I understand their need to stay solvent and profitable in order to maintain the resort and pay their employees, but at what cost to the natural, pristine beauty of the island we all love? I'm trying to reconcile this in my head but it's like a grain of sand in my shoe that just keeps bothering me and I can't get past it. Thanks for the opportunity to vent on this forum.

@ Pia - PAVE THE TRAIL? SERIOUSLY?

I would gladly sign the petition against that.
