We're in Fort Myers (Soutwest FL on the Gulf Coast) and we just love it!!!

Hey Snorkelqueen! I sure hope to see you guys here eventually! We absolutely LOVE it here...our dream come true! It's like St. John with good healthcare and no power outages...LOL! And gas is cheaper too! I paid $3.79/gal last night...who ever thought I'd be bragging on $3.79 a gallon?? That's still too expensive - LOL!!!

I'm jealous! I've been trying to get to FL for years!! As soon as my son graduates high school(6 years) I believe we are headed even further south than we already are (MS)! What made you choose Ft Meyers? I definitely want to stay on the gulf side. Personal preference since I've grown up on it.

Hey there TraumaQueen! We have friends who live in Fort Myers and we came down to visit them about 10 yrs. ago and absolutely fell in love with the place. At that time we were both chained to our jobs and couldn't go ANYWHERE, but now that both my husband & I retired, we're not tied down to any particular place. California is too damned expensive anymore, but we can live on our Social Security & my husband's pension here in Florida. And we're living MUCH BETTER than we ever were in California!

One thing about Fort Myers, is that the weather is very much like St. John, but it's still on the mainland so we have the best of both worlds!
