Flight changes

Post by nuendelcapecod »

Don't you just feel like a victim? I looked at our original flight times and we would've arrived in STT at 1:30 pm. Not a direct but still a nice early arrival. Now we don't get there until 4 something. And forget a direct flight. American only does that from Logan on Saturdays. And the prices dropped but since I have a non-refundable, I'm stuck. Oh, well, counting the hours.

Never have been a big fan of US Scare.... Maybe, I will book a flight NOW for Nov., a flight with 3 connections, and wait for the airline to change the flight to a direct flight!

Not only do we leave at 6:30 AM!!! We don't get back until almost midnight. We had perfect flights before and they just dropped the direct flight.

I asked whether I could get credit and the attendent said no, the flight now goes for 300.00 more then what we paid.

I hate this. I was so happy we had direct flights and now we have to deal with this.

This is why we have not booked our flights yet. We have seen them change the flights offered and are waiting another week or so before booking. Taking a risk that prices will go way up though. The flight we are looking at will have our layover in Charlotte too. Tough we are flying out of KC.

Charlotte airport has a great sushi bar, draft beer, does take out for your flight too and has a wonderful piano.
My favorite layover airport.

And Charlotte airport has free wifi (unlike Atlanta or Newark) and those cute white rocking chairs.

Make lemonade. :) You're going to the most beautiful place on the planet. If you don't want your horrible flight, I would gladly use it. (Tongue slapping cheek now!)

We're fine with the flights we have now. Just have to pray that American doesn't make a drastic change.

We were on the Islands last June for 10 days and my Mother got very sick and we had to leave after 4 nights. Thank God we had trip insurance and we were able to recoup some of our money. It was really very trying to get home.

The same day that I found out about US Air changing our flights, I had to take my Mom to the hospital again. She's in there right now.

I don't believe I can get trip insurance now because it would be considered a pre-existing condition. Does anybody have any idea? I called CSA and I really can't get a answer.

I know one thing for sure. This is going to be a relaxing trip. I'm not planning anything and we're just going to go with the flow.

Connie, is your trip all paid up? With CSA you are supposed to be able to buy trip insurance that includes pre-existing conditions (called "Custom Luxe") any time prior to or within 24 hours of making your "final" payment. At least that's what they told me... and if you had spoken with them, I would guess they should've been able to tell you that, too. I am planning to buy our insurance with CSA pretty soon, right before we pay up our balances for our accommodations.

CSA also offers insurance that doesn't cover pre-existing conditions (called "Custom") at a cheaper price than "Custom Luxe".

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Wishing her a speedy recovery.

We booked our flights to get us to STT at 11:30am. I was almost giddy about getting in so early. Then Usair cancelled the early flight. They moved us to the later flight, gettin gin 2 hours later. Not a huge issue except the woman I spoke to was so rude. We had paid the upcharge for more leg room and she argued with me about that. She told me the seats we had on the new flight and I was looking at the seat map and they were no premium seats. We went around and around and afte she told me that she could just cancel my flight if I was unhappy, I got nervous.
I spoke to a supervisor and was told that they cancelled our premium seats and credited my card the $ but they had premium seats available and moved us to them.

I am still not thrilled about the time change but I was more worried that the rude woman on the phone was going to cancel my flights.

I have flown USAirways over 30 times to the islands either leaving from my local airport or from Philly wither direct or through Charlotte. I have been standed in Charlotte at midnite in a horrible hotel, had flights cancelled (was coming home on a Wednesday and was called 2 months before trip that I could only get home on a Friday or Saturday) and was dumped in Puerto Rico because the winds were to high to land at St. Thomas. Spended an extra $800 on Air Sunshine to get to St. Thomas because they told us we couldn't get a flight over for three days.

All in all, I think every trip they have messed with us....My favorite was when they had my 3 year old 15 rows behind me. Luckily the stewardess got her next to me. There were too may newlyweds that didn't want to be separated.

As bad as they can be, I have had problems on alot of other airlines as well. It just seems like they are always messing with schedules. I am glad you are getting reimbursed for your problems!

Well, if anybody is going to be around from 5/28-6/4, we can all tell our "war" stories.

I'm just glad we have plans. Even leaving at 6:15 in the morning doesn't bother me. We'll just have to leave the house about 4:30 or so and I've learned to sleep on a plane.

I want to give a shout out to Linda at Dependable Car rental. I called her today to tell her about our changes and we had a nice chat. She's actually from our area, so I'll have to bring something down that's a Philly thing

Linda is really cool, one of the nicest folks I have met on STT.

This is what we were told as well. Since we did not buy the insurance at time of booking we have to buy it right before making last payment. There is only the "Luxe" that would cover my parents pre-existing conditions. It is alot more expensive but both of my parents are in bad health. My Mom just got out of the hospital on Friday. We need the piece of mind that we will be able to get back if we need to. They told us that we need to buy it right before our final payment. Whether that is buying our plane tickets which we have not done yet or the final payment on our Villa.

I have to say...I dont like US air either.. I think they are over priced..Our same flight from Myrtle Beach with UsAir was 657.00 and had a 3 hr layover in Clt. It leaves about 45 minutes earlier than our flight does..and arrives about 15 minutes before we get there...If I had paid for our flight( we used airmiles on the way down) it would have been 382.00 and we also have a layover in Ft Lauderdale..same difference there.. USair also charges 25.00 a bag per one way so 50 rnd trip unless you are a member of the Star Alliance or Silver perferred..I'll just pay my 56.00 for our flight and save the 275.00 difference in flight money...Thats a whole lot of Painklillers..;) or an extra night on Island..:D
