Coral Bay Questions
We love Love City Market. It always amazes me how much they can pack in there. And their rum prices are the least expensive on the island. Also, another vote for heading up to Josephine's for your greens. You can't get fresher greens, and they are priced incredibly fairly. Plus, you may get lucky and be able to have a nice conversation with Josephine. I like Randy's advice. Really, you'll be fine!

X, can you not find the villa on Google maps and navigate yourself? Meet your greeter at Dolphin or Starfish? I lived above Lily's and avoided it unless it was necessary. I went to the Mini Mart more often. In general, the deli was sketchy, veggies can be too. BUT, sometimes if you hit it right, fresh veggies would be ok. I don't want to sound like it is impossible to find what you need at Lily's, because you can. Your opening comment of Coral Bay not being for you makes me think you should arrange to stop at Dolphin.
You'll live no matter what. You get an awesome vacation coming up! Enjoy!

I offered to get us there ourselves and was told that is not their policy. Not thrilled but what can you do?Puddlejumper wrote:X, can you not find the villa on Google maps and navigate yourself? I am just a Cruz Bay girl. I never lived further than Chocolate Hole while on island and the first time I was EVER in Reef Bay was 2 years ago when I rented a house there
I will survive, but I won't be happy about the driving to town all the time!

I love this thread! Last year I brought my sis down as a fun birthday gift. My sis is an old hippie (I'm old too so no offense). She fell in love with Coral Bay and was trying to pick up old guys at Skinny's.
I's like she was transported back to 1969. She did not get why we always stay on Cruz Bay side. To each his own.

We are staying in Coral Bay (Flannigans Passage) for the first time this Summer. Will be interesting to see how it shakes down. Had to try it...but even after all our visits to the island AND spending good amounts of time on that side of the rock, it still makes me feel like a newby again in another world LOL! Thanks for the info!

I bet you can find someone who will be on island when you arrive. Maybe you can coax them to pick up just a few items for you and meet you at the ferry or the Beach Bar. I'm sure if you offer a round of drinks, you'll get some volunteers. Then, you can just toss your items in your cooler, pick up your vehicle and head over more relaxed.

I would then inform the villa company.....
"as I am an ex resident and former villa greeter/manager you will be shopping first at Starfish and Dolphin so to please build that in to the villa greeters time allowance. And as a former resident you do know your way to the Triangle in Coral Bay if it is more convenient for them they can meet you there or if they still insist coming to Cruz Bay they can meet at Starfish at (blank) time which will give you 45 minutes (however many minutes you need) of shopping time"

We have stayed in Coral Bay the last 5 trips and our villa greeter always meets us in Coral Bay. We have met them at the smoothie stand, at Aqua Bistro, at Island Blues and last year we went straight to the villa. I have always told them we know our way around, no sense in making the trip to Cruz Bay. How about having your villa provisioned at least with a few necessities for the evening and morning, no worry about the grocery and you can completely relax!! Since you are mostly a "Cruz Bay" girl, you get to discover a whole new place!

Pia, I send them a note with my final payment with almost all of that.
I was told that all the greeters have to stop by the office to get the keys, so they are in Cruz Bay. I was less than thrilled but what can you do?
Since we land at 1:30 and will likely have time before the ferry, I may just run to Marina

I know you don't like to disclose where pu ate staying but would you mind disclosing who you are working with? I only ask because we have stay in Coral bay several times and been met over there without any problems and I wonder if that is adding to yor already negative feelings about that side of the island. And maybe newbies want to have other options to explore if other agencies will meet them without hesitation.
