Captkirk has hit the nail right on the head. I have hundreds of stunning (if I say so myself) underwater snorkeling shots, all taken with the same Vivitar $69 camera. It finally leaked on the 3rd visit to STJ and is being replaced this year with a new Panasonic DMC-TS3.

But the point here is, all my underwater photos looked like dog poop UNTIL I edited them in Picasa, the great free photo organizing and editing tool from Google.

One click on the "I'm feeling lucky" button in Picasa does WONDERS for underwater pics. I'll post a few here within a day or two. But Captkirk is right - Picasa saves the day!

H download Picasa. Once ya got it, populate your pics to Picasa from computer, SD card, camera, it should promt you what do you want to use. Pick picasa. Edit pics, I feel lucky does wonders, add some auto color and bang great pic most the time. Something else make sure you save edits to pics by going to save changes by going to the little blue floppy disk looking thinging or it won't save the changes. Hope this helps sure the kid can help if needed. Play around with all the features you can change anything you don't like. I still am learning some new stuff. Just this time while editing I tryed shadows and it really works great to take out some of the harsh miday sun from pics. Now they look like you almost took them with a polarized filter lens. That one can also make your pics a little clearer for underwaters too.
Heres the link to download picasa

Kirk, great pictures..but I'm always wondering.....

Everybody floats with the tide when snorkeling, so how do you get such great pics?

Thanks so much for the Picassa tip. I'm going to try it with the photos I took from the plane to see if the program can enhance those. STJ looked sooo beautiful from my window, but looks horrible in my photo!
