Actually, I like any time on STJ. So far I think we've been every month of the year. Last August was hot but as long as you have those beautiful beaches and water you can't go wrong. Been there for 2 hurricanes Bertha and last year Earl and it didn't "dampen" our trips at all. In fact last year we got to stay a couple of extra days-now that's not too bad!! Hoping not to have one this year, though. There are ways to keep cool. A/C in the bedroom is necessary.

If you can handle Cola in August, STJ is a breeze!!!! This will be our third August in a row. Just works out best with my job to go then, and we think it's great!

Thanks for all of the input. Cola, South Cak-a-laki is miserable in August but then we don't get those breezes! Trip insurance must be a given for August trips, right?

We've always gone in August, and love it for all of the good reasons outlined above. Hurricanes can be a problem (as it was for us last year, and trip insurance did NOT help), but how often do those happen?

I don't know that it's really all that much hotter during August, maybe a little. But the near-empty beaches, the additional 15% off even low summer rates at our villa, and the warm ocean waters make up for all of that.

And you really want a villa with good, effective AC for sure. And a pool doesn't hurt, either.

24 days and counting....!

msgcolleen, I hear ya about HOT Dallas summers and I think this one may end up being a bit worse than most!St. John doesn't seem as hot and humid as south Florida and the keys . . . unbearable!
Stay away, hurricanes!
