The Lido Beach Resort on Lido Key off of Sarasota is my favorite quickie getaway. Fly into SRQ and the resort is only about 15" drive with a Publix and liquor store right on the way. Hang out on the beach, shop St. Armand's Circle, and Kayak with Mote Aquarium. Love it!

Beaches of the Florida Panhandle! Panama City has flights from Boston, Short drive to Lots of beautiful quaint places like Rosemary Beach, Sea Side, and Grayton Beach. The sand is soft and white, the water is turquise, it is warm, and spring breakers are gone by that time. Check out the websites on those places and South West has some good deals. I live in the area and love it. Of course it does not beat the Carribian, just easier to get to.
