I'm so excited for you! Sounds like you have everything planned out so no worries, mon!

I've noticed a number of people drive 3-5 hours to an airport for their flights. Is this because there are no airports close to where you live, or are the rates that cheap that it warrents spending the $$ for gas and hotel to drive that far? just wondering. We live in Podunk USA (read Mason County West Virginia) and we can fly from 2 different airports within an hours drive, but we are driving 2 hours to Columbus OH to save over $100/PP.

again, just wondering about the airport thing.

While it is nearly always cheaper out of the metro areas, we often drive 2-3 hours because of flight times.

There is one regional and one international airport within one hour of our house but to arrive at our destination and return home at decent times, we need to drive.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes.

MG, we live neat St Louis, we usually fly out of STL, but can get such better deals out of Chicago. We have a daughter up there and plan to spend a few days with her family after our return.
