Stuffy? I don't think so, the most relaxing place I have ever been. Caneel was booked when I was there but you would have never known it. Rooms are very spread out, so it never seems like your at a resort. I was only there once and stayed beachfront on Caneel and it was quiet with only the noise of little waves washing along the shore but that was pre A/C. The only problem I had was that I wanted to explore St. John but didn't want to leave Caneel. It is first class from the time you check in at the STT airport, to you get your rum punch on their private ferry and then a wet towel at the dock before they take you to your room. Just awesome! Enjoy it!

Caneel added decent sized flat panel tvs to their bar area/casual restaurant a couple of years ago, and I am sure they will be showing the game.

Beachbum- Caneel didnt have a big screen when I was there but if you take the ferry over to Red Hook and walk to the Caribbean Saloon, it has a number of flat screens and is more of a sports bar. I watched a Eagles-Saints playoff game here a couple years ago and it was a great time. Just a thought!

If you like lobster, than yes. They have grilled Caribbean lobster, all you can eat. Champagne, shrimp cocktail, and various other grilled fishes. Tons of desserts..etc. There is a steel pan band also.

For some reason I thought they discontinued this buffet, but I guess I am wrong. I've never actually eaten at it (I hate lobster, and I have this weird thing about eating at buffets), but I have walked by when it's going on and it looks nice.

On our preference form we filled out for Caneel, they say that you need a reservation for the Monday night buffett, so I assume it is still served. My wife is a lobster lover so I know we will belly up to the buffet!!!

HELP. I have finally convinced family members to visit - but I thought Caneel recently added TVs to the rooms. I appreciate the lack of TVs, but the family patriarch will not.

GOing crazy waiting in the snow for this trip!!!
Did you request your mini-fridge? If so, it should be in the room when you check in.

If you happen to get up early, Caneel photo ops include the ability to hop out and enjoy sunrise over Hawksnest Bay from the easy Turtle Bay trail.
