I liked all of his books. His love of and observations on Provence remind me of "our" STJ feelings.

Mangoes just rubbed me the wrong way. that didn't stop me from reading it 3 times. Something about the author just grinds my gears.
Actually, I know how you feel. There is just something about her--I think that she reads a little snobby--more so in the "Spice Necklace." Like she thinks that she and her husband are the most perfect travelers in the entire universe, incapable of doing anything wrong and everyone loves them, etc.

Or maybe I am just jealous of all her adventures and her beautiful boat and her unlimited travel time/travel funds.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Yea...that's probably it. You managed to sum it up better than I could have...of course you can express yourself properly without resorting to taunts and obscenities.

the book had a "Look at what we did" feel to it. They were smug about throwing life away to go travel, but, wisely, both made money off the trip to fund further adventures.

If only there were more of a market for poorly-written vulgar travel writing. I'd have me a new job.

I second "The Sex Lives of Cannibals" - hilarious. His other book is great, too.
