Pia, I would love liamsaunt if I inherited her "left overs" I get envious of her talent everytime she posts her food porn!!! It's all in the presentation and I am sure it tastes as good as it looks.

I made the mistake this year of buying too much when we arrived. I usually get the bulk of the groceries the day we arrive and pick up a few things here and there as the week goes on. Since we were in Coral Bay this year I thought we wouldn't be getting back to the grocery store much and I bought way too much. Plus I bring stuff from home.

Solution? We took it to the fire house in Coral Bay the morning we left and asked the firemen there if they would like it. They did and were very appreciate.
Win win solution!

Great solution! We have left it for housekeeping but never knew if it was wanted. Your solution is much better.

I was just curious....when you carry on your Polar Bear coolers, do you just use cold packs to keep the food cold? I would assume you can't use ice.

I think if it's frozen solid, you won't need ice packs for the day of travel. Technically, gelled ice packs like techni ice aren't allowed on planes anymore....

Is techni ice still allowed if you check your cooler? Otherwise I am not sure if my cooler will make a daytime flight from CA with an overnight stay in St Thomas in 2 weeks? Shoot.

The last time we took a cooler was 2008. I missed not taking one this past winter trip.

Contents:

Several types of steaks
Hot dogs
Hamburger patties
Chicken breasts
Sausage
Bacon
Ham
Soopies (a regional meat similar to pepperoni)
Variety of fancy cheeses
Nuts
Dry ingredients
Meal plan and recipes
Shopping list for any ingredients not already in cooler.

We pack because we are picky. Also because I don't like to grocery shop.
