Nasty weather
I have never, ever seen it like this. We are at Caneel now (free wireless in the rooms now, what a change!). The resort is FLOODED. The entire lawn is covered in water, and all the birds are having a field day swimming. It is still pouring and thundering. Some of the roads are impassable on the resort. Coming from town, there were waterfalls where waterfalls don't exist! But, we had a nice long lunch at Ocean Grill and are going out to the Equator tonight (can't manage going back into town with the roads as flooded as they are), and we are enjoying our complimentary champagne from the management, so it's not all bad. I guess. I'd rather have sun, but Tap Room has a beer-cheese soup on their menu that I have targeted for lunch tomorrow if the weather keeps up.
Honestly, I wonder if the beaches will be closed because of the amount of runoff.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
Did you see my other post on "iffy" weather? Looks like a tropical wave is parked over you and may form into a tropical depression. No circular movement yet but forecasters are watching it closely. Even if it picks up and moves a bit, rain is still in the picture with round two set to begin on Saturday.
It was in the St. John Source.
Good luck!

Crazy !!!!!!!

Remember, the best beach after a heavy rain is Pool beach

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

It's crazy raining. In all the times we have come we have never seen this. We're staying over in reef bay and luckily made it back this afternoon. The road was flooded in several spots, the worst we had to wait for 20 minutes and then went through water up to the mid tires. It's probably much worse now. We braved shopping-mongoose junction, so go's and st. John spice and made it back just in time I think. We came in Sunday and it was pouring then, yesterday am at least got to show our friends around in the morning then more rain and pretty much all day today. We're happy we brought a bunch of food at least because I don't think we would chance leaving. We took little videos but I can't post them until I get back, but mother nature has a LOT of power. I'm hoping it clears a little at least to be able to leave the house...send sunny thoughts our way!

Well we had a nice dinner at the Equator (wow their food has REALLY improved!) and it is still pouring rain. Go away rain!!
We are assuming tomorrow is a wash also so our plans are to turn in our Jeep, go to Donald Schnell and buy something (OK probably many things), visit with Ruth if she is around, and maybe lunch in town.

liamsaunt, this weather might make for some interesting and different photos. Somewhere on the island (I can't remember where), there's a really pretty waterfall when there's a lot of rain. I haven't seen it personally, only in pictures. If it's safe to be on the road, it might be fun to try and get some shots of things that you don't normally see when it's dry. A sunny beach would be much better, but I guess the old saying about making lemonade out of lemons applies here.
