Honeymoon is an easy walk on a wide flat trail from Caneel Bay. You can park in Caneel's lot, and their staff will show you the way to the trail. Just be sure your ceremony and photos are done by 10 AM, because that is when the catamarans from STT show up and then the beach will be "crowded."

Hawksnest would be beautiful, but I would expect people to be on the beach by 8:45.

Here is a practiced Girl Scout tip if you want to have the ceremony at Honeymoon--hike out in a comfortable bikini with a cover up on plus walking shoes and then put on your dress when you get to the beach. You can duck behind a palm tree and pull your bikini top out through the armhole of your dress before the ceremony.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Another vote for Hawksnest! My daughter wants to get married there someday. I thought it the perfect, beautiful, romantic, perfect, perfect. Did I mention perfect?

I agree with most, any n. shore beach would be a winner. Hawksnest and Francis/Maho is park by the beach basiclly. Will be there on that date, good luck.

Good tip! lol

You all have so many recommendations--it seems like every beach is beautiful in it's own way. I don't know how we will choose!

As always, thanks for all the help!

Also a very biased opinion here, but we just renewed our vows on Hawksnest with Anne Marie Porter. A rainbow came out during the ceremony, it could not have been more romantic. Easy to get to, and shouldn't have hardly any people that early.

The day we spread my wifes ashes at hawksnest when we were coming off the beach at about 8:30 there was a couple getting ready in the parking lot for there wedding other then us and them there wasn't any one else there. Kind of like to thing that Laurie was looking down on them and made their day go great.

Wedding Beach

Post by SuefromMA »

It is both a tough & easy decision for you. I don't think that you will be disappointed with whatever beach you choose. Still don't know how you will do it. I have a hard time just picking out which beaches to visit if I am only on the island for 5 days. Picking "the special one" - would virtually be impossible for me.

Anyway - that said - I did find this "virtual" site that shows Trunk, Cinnamon & Hawksnest. If you haven't checked this out - maybe it would be helpful since you have not been on the island, yet.

http://www.usviwedding.com/virtual_tours_beaches.html

I guess that if it were me and I didn't already have a favorite - I would really count on the person performing the ceremony & even more importantly the photographer for their recommendation.

I would be looking for the beach with the best Photo Ops - because - let's face it - all of the beaches are gorgeous! Also, I would probably want one that has a special little "cove" or something where (if there were other people) we could just "tuck" in there & still have our private affair. Again, these are questions that either the "experts" on the forum might be able to answer - but also the person performing your wedding.

Love Cinnamon, Love Honeymoon, Really like Trunk & Francis - but, based on some the posts on this forum (and particularly waterguy's) - I think that Hawksnest now has - as if never before - a special kharma of a forever love that I have no doubt you would feel upon that special day.

Congratulations & best of luck to you both in planning your wedding day.

What a great site, Sue. I had not seen that before. There are such beautiful choices . . . it has to be a tough decision, but it doesn't look like you can go wrong with any of those mentioned.

I would also go with Honeymoon. We've found that with a little bit of a walk, you're going to leave behind a whole bunch of screaming kids which seem to congregate at the easy access beaches like Hawksnest, Maho, Cinnamon, and Francis.

I love all of these recommendations! Thanks to all!

Sue, that is a wonderful site. I have been on that site before, but somehow missed that page--what a great resource. Also, a good place to day dream while I'm trying to make it through a work day!

Thanks again!
