The only thing on your list that we take with us is our own snorkel gear. I think you will be fine renting it, but we use ours a lot so it's much more cost effective to buy.

We have never had a problem with sunburn while snorkeling, but we apply SPF 50 before and after our snorkeling time. We are out anywhere from 1-2 hours at a time and then if we go out again we reapply. We do use the biodegradable sunscreen to protect the reef!

Have a great trip!

I used to ALWAYS be in 'panic-mode' before a trip--ANY trip. But I super relaxed once I read the following pithy advice once from a VERY wise traveler:

"Just remember, if you forget something and you really need it, you can buy it there; if you can not buy it there, you don't NEED it there!"

Now, the only thing that doesn't apply to is my passport; my wallet--with it's cc & cash & driver's license; and my pills (medications have unfortunately increased along with my age :( ).

That's the best advice I ever got (& can give!)

PS: You can buy or rent just about anything you would ever need on St. John (even a prescription you forgot by going to Chelsea Drugs!)

Lol on the "forum facts" overload!

Chicagoians, I love the tip about sunblock and bug repellant wipes. Do you have a favorite?

I also pack purex all in one washer sheets. I love the smell and they clean well. And they don't interfere with carry on travel.

Sometimes we travel with our mask and snorkel and rent the fins. The fins take up too much room and weight.

Have a great trip. Don't make yourself crazy with last minute shopping. Relax and start enjoying it now or you are going to be wore out when you get there. Oh, and, throw in snacks. Airport/airlines food gets very expensive.

xoxo
