How to cope with going from 81 yesterday to 41 tomorrow!
Good - from what I understand they need the rain.Jerseyboy wrote:Don't get too depressed everyone. I just looked at both the St. John and St. Thomas web cams and it looks cloudy with showers on our beloved USVI.
If it's raining when I'm on STJ I will either go back to the villa and take a nap or just play in the rain!
Come see us!

So, today in Northern Virginia I went into an office for 45 minutes. It was 77 degrees when I went in and 58 degrees when I came out. Freezing rain and sleet tomorrow?
I'm dying!
Last night was so nice that we were out walking late with the dog and the kids. It felt like one of those perfect spring nights before the pollen comes out.
Cheers, RickG

Have pity on those of us that have to work outside today.
I just got back from the morning rounds with ice pelting me, driving 15 miles per hour. I just wish that people here would take an island time approach to driving in this crap. I am in a four by four and nothing has traction on ice
Slow down-way down!!!
Will need a drink tonight.

When will I see St John again?
We heat with wood. It was nice to get a few days off from the constant filling the stove, dirt, etc. By this time of the year my sinuses have just about had enough of it. I do love March though. The occasional 75 degree day, the crocuses popping up, the light at the end of the tunnel!
When you find yourself in a hole.... quit digging.
The snow is coming down sideways here. All the flights into the city are cancelled. My boss is on the way back from Tokyo, little does he know that he is about to spend the night in Chicago!
On a happier TGIF note, this month one of my cooking magazines had a recipe for a drink that they claim is the bar speciality at the Fish Trap! Here it is, if you can unthaw enough to want to drink something cold:
Frozen Lemonade with Coconut Rum
1 1/2 cups crushed ice cubes
3 tbsp. frozen lemonade concentrate
2 tbsp. coconut rum
lime wedge
Blend until slushy and garnish with lime wedge. Serves 1

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

I suppose it's all what your accustomed to. Although I hate snow & cold, somehow I cope with it. It was 65+ degrees on Wednesday, right now I'm about to shut down my business early because of the 12+ inches of snow thats predicted. In New England, if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute. I still believe that I would melt away to nothing if I had to endure a summer in the south. Again, it's all what you're used to.
Believe me, all this crappy snow makes the caribbean all the more special!!

ScottB - summer in the South (or at least the Deep South) is MISERABLE! The heat in STJ is cool to us. I work outside in it, and it takes so much out of you that you feel like you are just draggin'.
That being said, I can't imagine living anywhere other than New Orleans.

p.s. look on the bright side...we can swim most months of the year in our pools
