We've been to STJ 8 times and always rent on STT and never had a problem.
Let us live so that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry.

take the barge

We rented a car in St. Thomas this year...Dependable Car Rental. They picked us up at our hotel, took us to their facility where we picked up our car and left. It was Carnival and downtown Charlotte Amalie was a zoo so they routed us over the spine of the island to Red Hook. After a couple of stops for some groceries, we rolled into Red Hook and immediately were ushered onto the barge (Tug Life)complete with cocktail Bar! After our trip I went through my journal of last year's trip to St. John and totaled how much we saved in taxi fare plus luggage handling - it was well worth it! Not to mention that they had us return the car to the airport, put the keys under the mat and leave it in the parking lot. What could be easier than that! They did give us the name of a mechanic on St. John should we need one as they don't have an office on St. John. Not all auto rental places allow you to take the car off island. We paid $830 for two weeks plus a $10 drop-off charge for a Grand Vitara (there were only three of us.) Next year there will be 5 of us and we will rent a much larger 4 wheel Jeep Commander. After renting on St. John for 4 years, we are sold on renting on St. Thomas and taking the car barge to St. John.
