I understand about seat location, my DH is the same way. He has to have the aisle no matter what.

I feel a small child alone could present a problem for crew and fellow passengers and therefore, would expect the airline to help with a solution.

Not just a child, but any special needs passenger that should, for the safey and comfort of all involved, should be under the control of a responsible adult.

We had FAs intervene over a seating issue on our behalf once prior to the other passenger even realizing what happened. It was an even-up trade, just a different row.

LOL. That just made my day.

My flights to STT through Atlanta are in 39 days and since I purchased them in January, they have changed a handful of times. (And probably will more between now and then).

Also check your flights for your trip home.

Our airplane, US Air, Flight 1012 left and hour and 10 minutes early. I thought I was seeing things.

Sure enough they left the gate an hour and 10 minutes early.

Unheard of, but after a long trip, we were ready to get home.

I've actually been on a flight where the flight attendants started offering drink coupons for the first people to accommodate a mother that had 3 young kids with her. I was flying solo that day and had alredy offered to move, but since my help depended on those around me, it came down to the bribes. Just sad that so many just sat there.

I understand those with claustrophobic tendencies, and nervous flyers, etc....but you can't tell me all 100+ people on the plane were that way.

I'm an easy travel person...give me a seat that isn't broken and doesn't have someone smelly next to me or kicking the back of my seat...and I'm good. I'm OK if the pilot decides to do a barrel roll, as long as he announces it first. (if he does it right, your drink shouldn't even spill!) Heck, I'd consider making my 14 and 11 year olds move seats if it wasn't too far away from me to accommodate others with special needs....especially for a free drink :twisted: (j/k)

I'd always rather have a window on the left side (I can only sleep on a plane if leaning to the left), but if a family was in a "situation", I wouldn't be an a-hole about it.

there's a line between "I bought a seat on this plane with open seating and I want THIS VERY seat" and being a rational human being. And, I have seen far too much of the former.

And this comes from a self-described jerk and (fortunately former) very frequent flyer.

But, before I really get up on my soapbox, I'll leave with this parting shot:

Delta makes me want to vomit most of the time.

Please don't get me wrong I have moved plenty of times in my life especially if it's from one aisle seat to another. Or if it's to a middle or window I make hubby take a hit for the team and we sit apart.

So I'm not completely heartless, but you're right, there are a lot of heartles SOB's out there.

Also, after our last little sojourn with Delta, I will never fly with them EVER again.

SO let's be honest, many of these situations would occur if the airline didn't screw with people's reservations in the first place.

Funny this thread is coming up. Our family of four will be in St. John in November. We started out flying AA JFK-STT non-stop both ways. Literally 8 days after I purchased the tickets earlier this month, BOTH flights changed to stops and layovers. I called AA and cancelled both flights.

I ended up flying Delta out of EWR (more convenient than JFK)to ATL and then on to STT. The return home is on Continental and (for now anyway) is direct STT-EWR.

Bottom line I will be checking my flights weekly...probably more.

I gotta say the moving chess board on flights kills me.

I am one of those people who chooses my flights carefuly and buys tix based on departure and arrival times balanced with cost.

Sometimes, I actually pay a little bit more to get the times that I want. So it's pretty annoying to me when they change things up.

The great thing about this forum is the way we help each other out!

Had an aweful experience with my forst and last Delta flight this past December. They changes my flights NUMEROUS times without calling or e mailing me. We even had to change airports 3 times and still got stuck over night in ATL. I had to pay for the hotel as well and they wanted to re-charge me to check bags again. After quite a few nasty e mails, I did get refunded the $$ I paid for the hotel and my bags.

I have learned now to ALWAYS check and re-check my flight information. However, I did fly USA3000 this past spring, and they actually had a HUMAN call me to let me know of my flight change and then did whatever they could to accomadate me. I was very impressed:)

Keeping my eye on my AA reservatiosn for my trip this December to STT. I check about every 2 weeks now, and when it get to about 3 months out I check weekly and then daily!

Me too.

After my earlier Husband-induced flight saga, I am keeping my fingers crossed.

So in addition to checking the forum first thing when I get to work, I am adding flight-checking also. Good thing I am married to the boss, productivity will be low for the next 30 some days.
